I have a couple of ideas:

1) They are sending code... only read the upper (or lower) case characters.

2) They are suffering from some neurological problem... that only shows up when you sit in front of a computer for 19 hours a day.

Also (for extra BONUS points!)... Why can?t hackers spell! Is it the same neurological problem that affects their ability to distinguish between upper and lower case letters?

When did ?u? become an acceptable substitute for you? ?b4? is even crazier; it has a digit in there!

Not all hackers write like that.

Many hackers use proper grammer, spelling and punctuation.

I do this. I am not a hacker. It is internet shorthand...

Things like that aren't hacker-ish. That is more in the speech of the general AOLer.

<< they also all wear dark sunglasses, everywhere they go >>

Even...to the movie theatre? Even to...a play? What about a concert? How about hooking up with a girl with the lights way down?

Ohhh that's right, I forgot, they don't leave their computer rooms so those situations would never arise. ;)

I have never seen a hacker really talk like that (seriously, although I have seen it in jest). Script kiddiots yes, hackers no. Oh, and the dark sunglasses only apply to some. And finally, some hackers hack for the chicks. :D

Real hackers are used to looking at code, so as long as they can spell there....

If you?re going to make your posts unreadable to the majority of English speakers, you might as well post in Thermian!

I need a translator...

<< iT M@k3$ u 1337. :D >>

It makes you ____

<< cUz d3y l337 h4x0rZ >>

Cause they(?) ____ ______

The "original" casing was to simply lower case the vowels, LiKe THiS. Point? I don't believe there was one, but all of you are seriously exaggerating what it originally was :)

What it originally was is much different than what it is now.

What it originally was, was more like abbreviations. Like using L8r for later and things like that...You have to remember alot of us grew up on 300 baud modems, transmitting ~30 characters a second, we cut whatever out of it we could....:)
