If it was anything like this place, ATOT surely wouldnt be one of the biggest online forums

Yes, because the mental capability of the constituents or operators has an effect on the size of the forum.

Guess we should all be heading to WoW for some deep cognitive analysis.

I never joined because all of the contests required you to join. Thats sounds like a scam to get more members to me.

The site is slow, horribly designed, and I've disliked the unprofessional tone of their chief idiot for years now. There's far too many tech sites out there to need to put up with that trash.

Kyle is a dumbass and the forums have been worthless for a long time minus a very few good people who post there.

Did i mention Kyle is a dumbass?

But all the mods/admins over there are pretty much untouchable gods, and if you disagree about something either you change your opinion or you get banned

The only thing I think it has over the AT forums is in their gaming section - and some of the hardware stuff is better, if it's what you're looking for. Though the downtime is what really drove me to being here more, but the lack of free OT and them still advertising seems a bit stupid to me. Either have me look at ads and make it free, or make me pay for it and get something other than a few stupid extra forums.

Of course, the paid OT there sucks now. There are only a few paid subscribers with at most 50 active threads per day. The specialty areas in GM (such as firearms and knives) used to be active, now they are completely dead (maybe a post per week).

Kyle's flamefest article Link

Disussion of said article.

The 2 link above exemplifies why HardOCP is a cesspit of a hardware website. Kyle does something stupid again on his op-ed (one time severely costing him with the fight against a vapor ware company) and small number of sane posters on the forum criticizes Kyle for it. They remind him of the past where his own idiocy cost him dearly. Kyle-worshipers and Kyle himself insults the people with brains, does not give any attempt to learn from the criticism or attempt to acknowledge it. After padding his ego, Kyle closes the thread personally.

The only thing that has that forum going for me is the Display section. It's a great resource for my on-going LCD hunting. Even that's mired with constant outage and (laughably amateurish) large data loss.

I don't really know much about it. I have gone there a few times from google links. The forums seemed pretty cumbersome to navigate.

They took my mod status away for helping someone on AT to do a search on {H}'s troll database.

No it`s not like this place!!
These forums have Mods who are real people who listen and even if they disagree with your opinion unless you have crossed the line in regards to what is proper will they will leave you be for th most part!!

We did have a mod on these forums who wanted to eun the Power Supply forum like Spectre mods over at Hardforum and at Jonny`s with an Iron fist!!
In fact this mod would deem anything he didn`t agre with as being inappropriate.
There is no room in any forum for people not being able to voice there opinions even if the Mod does not agree!

Which pretty well sums up the Hardforum`s!

I have the unfortunate knowledge of knowing where Kyle lives.
Some day I'm going to put a big H2 SUCKS sign in his front yard.

Yep, everybody pretty much summed it all. Nazi mods/admins, mr god himself kyle, intelli-text, piss poor design, lots of down time and paid OT.

I was banned from there because I got into a heated discussion about a trade gone bad. (you can do a search and find it if u want) Anyway, it was a bunch of BS and thanks to the ban I found AT.

Mods are Nazis, but when does that become an issue unless you want to do ATOT stuff there? If you're talking about their off topic stuff, yeah ATOT wins.

However about technical stuff, it seems there are some more technically competent people on there. Have you been to the GH section of this forum? It's always about HDs showing up as 127GB, 300W PSUs not able to power systems, blah blah.. It's like the most elementary stuff ever. You never hear people talking about connecting bridges on their nForce chipsets to get SLI or people filing down coolers to fit boards.... That's why I hit up XtremeSystems for true enthusiasts.

General Hardware here needs to be renamed "Rate My Build."
