Why do grapes and grapefruit have so little in common?

Premature post.

Who named grapefruits, since I assume they came to the english language after grapes, and why couldn't the come up with something a little more inventive?

That's apples and oranges :p Apple Computer has an Apple as their logo.

These are two fruits, completely different, that have very similar names. Imagine if kiwis weren't called kiwis, but strawberryfruits. Not only would they have a dumb name, they'd be associated with strawberries - something they have little or nothing in common with, other than both being fruits.
