Btw,the only weight I care about is my own,Ican't believe the inordinate amount of interest people here take in the dietary habits of complete strangers.
Would I be wrong to say that you do exactly that when you compare yourself to them? There are societally set standards of what is attractive, and without being cognizant of those one can't aspire to the goal, can they? When you workout and get thin who are you comparing yourself to? Why exactly do you think that being thin is attractive? Most people, given the choice, would get a bit thinner than is even ideal from a health perspective.

Depends on if it is a medical condition or not.

inability to stop eating is a medical condition ?

i think not

my supervisors siter is huge...and i mean much heavier than i am huge (and im 5'11" and about 215)

my supervisor (a woman who weighs what i do) says some people just cant help what they weigh.....my ass, i told her to throw away her cookies

I can't believe that some of you actually say aloud the things you claim to in real time,at work and to bosses no less.

Hey, don't get mad at us because you have a cookie addiction.

I'm 5ft 9 125 pounds,try again.

Either you are lying about your height, weight, or you are much skinnier than you led us to believe. I know you lost weight, but holy sh!t. My older sister is 5' 7" and weighs ~125. She is pretty thin.

I'm not lying about anything and I'm slender, not skinny.

Didn't you lose weight recently? How much were you before you slimmed down if I may ask?

You can tell me all day long, Jean. Hell, I don't even need pics, I've got an active imagination. My late wife Jessie was 5' 6" and 105 lbs. and had nice, full, stand up boobies, too! Here's to my Jessie!

i love seeing fat people take the elevator to second floor. That just cracks me up beyond belief.

But yeah haing disabilty permint because youre fat is vvery counter productive. The more you make em walk, the more calories they burn :)
I take elevator at work to the 3rd floor thought, party because im lazy and partly because it's a 30 min walk to get there from my house...

<- 5'11" ~160lb 9% bf

It medical disorders are the reason people are fat why does stomach stapling work for soooooo many?

Granted there are disorders that do cause weight gain, and some injuries that prevent excessive, but overeating is the major reason, no? I don't know the percentages, but I don't imagine it's far-far from 50/50 (medical/overeating)

People who overeat and think they have a disease and need 'special treatment' need to move to a socialist country where someone will give a damn.

They get to park in the nice blue zone that the average joe never gets to use.

Shouldn't they be designated spots for them further away ?
They can definitely use the excercise :)

*Flamesuit* ON~

This is a 1/2 serious thread ;) :p

they should give handicap permits to short people too. Then i would qualify.

I work out because I look in a mirror and see my physical flaws and want to attempt to make them go away,I don't feel the need to put other's down because of their weight to try to make myself feel better.

I'd say your 50/50 is far too generous. Given the skyrocketing numbers without a simliar change in genetics or anything like that overeating/underexercise is responsible for the vast majority of obesity - and your comment about stomach stapling is spot-on; anybody who claims they can't lose weight, then does so with stomach stapling, is missing the boat.

But why does it matter so much to you and other here? Hating on others because they weigh more than you do isn't going to make your waist smaller or your biceps bigger.

I was just sitting here thinking about the people I deal with regularly and like, they all come in different shapes, sizes and colors and you know, what they weigh isn't the 1st thing that comes to my mind when I think of any of them.

What's with the fat people bashing? are people afraid they won't be able to regulate their own lifestyles,is it fear or what?

It's beneficial to be fat.

I am hoping your not really this ingnorant manyou seemed so ...intelligent..

Do you really think these people that are that large really want to be like that on purpose and have all the heath problems the diabetes the sleep apnea, the bad joints, etc ????

My brother was very obese and he was one of the lardasses you so elegently put it,he had many problems and it was hard on on himself he eventually ended up shooting himself in the fvckin head because he liked being like that... it is a sickness just like any other just much more destructive..

And to answer the question..they are not able to walk so far and are limited to going out and doing things for themselves without the closer parking so that enables them to acyually be able to do ore for themselves, doctors do have to approve these things it is not like you gopto the permit store and pay $20 and get one..

It is a living hell and I watched him go down hill and could not help him in the end....

Weight isn't the first thing I think of either. I don't personally hate fat people; I merely hate the fact that some of them consider themselves victimized. I simply don't like people making excuses for something they have control over, as if they don't have control over it. If you weigh 350 lbs and you simply love eating so much that it's worth it to you to be that heavy, if you get to eat a lot and you make no excuses about it, well all the power to you. A few people actually don't mind being fat, because eating that food is worth it to them. The majority of others act as if it's not their fault, and damn their genetics, etc. I wish for these people that they'd realize they have more power over their lives than they give credit for.

I think to a large degree that metabolism is inherited,I also suspect that depression plays a role in weight managment.I don't have answers to the world's battle of the bulge. I do think though that talking about, treating others as viciously as many here do over their weight is a far more worrisome problem.

my aunt got one not long after a hysterectomy, she couldn't walk that long of a distance when she was recovering.

she's also on the heavy side, so i'm guessing you all automatically assume she got it because she's "large."

I understand people who have a thyroid problem or something. But there are people who are fat outta of laziness and lack of self control. I personally think we should make FAT BASTARD parking about 2 miles away from anything, especially anything hostess.

Ok then let's do this:

Should a person who was a smoker then gets some sort of lung disease, not then have the right to a disable permit?
A person who destroyed their liver with alcahol?
Someone who destroyed themselves with drugs?
Someone who is a career boxer, football player, etc sports player and has a neurological disease from their career choice?

All of the above people made choices also, so if you want to judge one crowd, why not judge them all equally?

And I think half of the people in this thread have a serious condition. It's called 'I don't have a life, think I'm better then everyone else because I'm thin, and I'm an Ahole-Itis'.

You're probably right. Now, if that's the case, can I have a pass for that last condition you mentioned? :p

Most definitely! The specially reserved spots are at the outer edges of the parking lot. There's even a free disposable drool bucket dispenser attached to the "twin cheeks & sideways smile" sign.:p
