Why do drinks in glass bottles taste better?

Because glass doesen't "flavor" the liquid.

Aluminum cans are second best, but many people claim they can taste that.

Plastic doesen't transfer heat to the liquid very well, so drinks in plastic bottles are usually warmer, and many drinks don't taste as good when warm.

I think they put more fizzy stuff in plastic bottles because it slowly leaks out. So chances are it will either have too much or not enough.

Also they might put something extra in drinks in cans to keep them from dissolving the metal.

all other materials messes wit ur taste buds...maybe?
coke outta a glass bottle always tastes a bit better...compare to can or plastic

I've had root beer out of a glass bottle, out of a plastic bottle, and a can. While I didn't drink them all together, I don't remember tasting much difference. I think the glass was the best though (better root beer)

No doubt, I'm not that old but I remember when Coke (and everything else) 'only' came in glass bottles. I also remember when they started to ship soft drinks in 2 litter plastic bottles and everyone hated them. You could really taste a difference, plastic. Nobody seems to complain now, because they don't fall out of the bottom of the grocery bag and shatter all over your feet anymore!

I still prefer soda in glass bottles.

If I am thinking correctly, arn't the insides of aluminum cans coated with plastic or some other coating, could add the extra flavoring.

coke tastes better in my coke glasses than it does in my regular milk glasses or my pint glasses. i'm not sure why that is.

aluminum actually affects the taste quite a bit. if you can't taste the difference when drinking a beer, something's wrong with your taste buds 😛

best root beer comes from the tap to the glass at the A&W, i wish i had an infinite tap of that junk, the 2-liters are pretty good, but simply can't step up to on tap root beer.

Glass is non-reactive with the pop, so it will have the taste that is "original". Glass just does a better job, which is why most chemicals in a chem lab (at least, in the chem labs I've seen, which are admittedly few) are kept in glass containers. The problem for pop is that glass is expensive, heavy, and easily broken.

THe only problem with glass is that when liquids such as beer come in contact with sunlight the alcohol actually starts getting broken down. It is best to store in a dark place if it is a glass bottle or just drink it fast!
