Why do cops give fix-it tickets to "RICERS" but not "REDNECK ENGINEERED" trucks?

I was gonna post this in the garage, but I figure OT can answer this better.

I often see cars get pulled over and issued fix-it tickets for anything that are not OEM, if the cop dislike you enough. Why then, are the super lifted trucks not given the same treatments? These lifted trucks present a far more dangerous and deadly combination in an accident than any "ricers" or fixed up street cars can be, yet they're revered.

Is it because a lot of cops themselves drive these monstrosities? You can ask anyone that worked in EMT, or firefighters what they usually see when they respond to an accident and I know some that had responded to these accidents hate those trucks with a passion. Decapitations usually are the results.

Why are they allowed to run around freely?

because a "lifted" truck is not a danger, while a 20 foot long paper wing glued to the back of a CRX is.

I have to agree on this one. They are definitely targeted whereas drivers of other illegally modified cars are left alone.

The only time I've heard of fix-it tickets getting issued is if you need a new muffler or you can convince the cop that your speedometer is broken.

Since when is it illegal to have non-OEM parts in your car?

Haven't you seen the disclaimer that comes with the parts? "For off-road use ONLY"

So there's a law on the books about headlight height for what reason exactly? A lifted truck isn't safer than a rice mobile, not by a long shot. It will do a lot more damage in an accident and is much harder to control in emergency maneuvers.

My guess would be the part that ricers are more associated to be a criminal vehical then the other ones.

Point to any car on the road today and tell me you can't find some law they break sometime this week. Everyone is a criminal, including the cops ignoring them.

it's because of the fart cans. NOBODY like fart cans.

and I'd say a truck that has it's bumper at my eye level is far more dangerous than any ricer.

There are exceptions to every generalization. You know damned well that's not the norm by a long shot.

but it is funny to look at.

the shit some ricers do to wings.

makes me wonder if they're even thinking when they do it.

Just a shot in the dark here but maybe because the ricer cars are more likely to get into drag races, speed, drift, etc on the roads? Redneck lifted trucks typically just drive around normally on the roads. Off-road is a different story however...but off-road isn't policed.

Fix-it tickets aren't issued because drivers are using non-OEM equipment, they are issued for equipment that fails to meet the road safety standards set by your state.

Lift kits of an appropriate height (as well as dropping vehicles) is generally legal. Noise ordinances are the reason most "ricers" get busted with fix-it tickets that I've seen.
