Why do console games look good in a nonnative res?

So we all know about playing PC games on an LCD with a non-native res.

How come console games don't look bad with a nonnative res?

I was watching a game in 720p being played on a 1080p tv set, but the graphics looked really good.

TV set? You could be standing too far away to notice the difference between the two resolutions.

Motion blur is also another reason; a lot of console games use it now while on PC it's still relatively new. If you try Lost Planet on your PC you'll probably feel that the game looks about the same regardless of resolution.

I agree. Good points.

well the picture is being upscaled so its not like what happens on the lcd wehn you run non native. then the pixels are all in the wrong places and look crap.

Some screens scale better than others, but I've noticed that 720p usually looks fine on 1080p screens, so maybe its easy to scale.

You should clarify that a bit more. What game, what system? Cause the xbox 360 is capable of scaling all of its games up to higher reses. All tvs can do this too. And you know what, high end tvs and the xbox 360 are much better at doing it than your LCD monitor.

Console games also like to stack on the blur.
