I went to the post office to mail some stuff I sold at half.com. I use the USPS Shipping Assistant to make labels for First Class Mail with DC. I've sent many small items using this method and I usually pack some folded bubble wrap or crumpled up paper to meet the thickness requirement. I've never had a problem before.

But this time the woman at the counter says I have to send it using Priority Mail because it's not thick enough. She even had a pair of callipers behind the counter. My envelope lying on the scale was well over an inch thick, but so squeezed the contents so it measured half an inch. The requirement is 3/4".

I said "fine." Then I took my package back, and walked away. It seemed like she tried extra hard not to take my package..

They become hardened from doing the same thing everyday for 20+ years, waiting for retirement or death, one of the two. Or, maybe she was just a man hating, angry lesbian. (I don't think there is any other kind). Lastly, you might look like the person who raped her cat, or you had bad breath, or she just flat did not like you. ;)

I fscking agree. I have NEVER had a good experience when having to deal with the clerks at the PO.

I try and avoid it like the plague.

I don't think I've ever had a bad experience with the post office staff. One was a little crabby sounding one day, while still being helpful...but every other time they've been very helpful and nice to me.

Yep, they can be major asses. While there are really nice clerks, my last encounter was with an ass of the greatest kind so I understand your situation.

The clerks at my local post office are not friendly, but they aren't rude either. It's a tough job so I'm usually nice to them regardless.

My mail carrier is very friendly, but I haven't seen her recently. Hope she hasn't retired :(

There is only one nice worker at my local PO, the rest of the employees are a bunch of incompetent little turds that are awaiting death or retirement.
