Why do business majors bitch about accounting so much?

beer

Lifer
Really, I don't understand how accounting can be all that hard.

1) You are dealing with real numbers and formulas.
2) You don't deal with differential equations, imaignary numbers, trig functions, or any combination thereof.
3) You don't have to deal with abstract theories or complex symbolic derivations.

You memorize them and use a laundry list of rules that can be done on a 4-function calculator. My dad is a CPA so I know I'm not talking bullsh!t.

And yet, every single goddamn business major i know is 'in agony' over an accounting test. is it really that f'in hard?

It's really not that hard...basic memorization. Although I'm sure this thread is a lead in to another "Engineers are superior and our sh!t don't stink" thread.

Why does it bother you?

Because they are out getting fvcked up right now and I am dying over series RLC circuits.

Probably the same reason why electrical engineers complain about circuit problems.

I have signals next semester. That's about what the grades are, from what I hear. I just have a prof that insists being about 2 units ahead of all the other classes, so NO ONE outside my class is able to help me and my study groups from last semester are defunct 🙁

I finished my CS degree and then decided to stay an extra year in college for a MIS (Business) degree, and I agree, Business majors bitch about anything that requires more than 2 seconds of actual thinking.

not an engineer here, so ok. but for the love of satan, seeing 4th year MIS students whine because they have to learn how to convert decimal to binary just chaps me

You better remember that its the folks with finance and accounting degrees that will be approving your projects budgets when you enter the workforce. Eggheads should not f@ck with the bean counters.

Wouldn't that be more of a responsiblity of a person with an MBA?

My parents are accountants and they wish they werent a lot of times... The job itself is boring. Accounting isnt tough per se but it is such a pain in the ass to do... especially come inventory time...

College: Every student must bitch

Business majors: Bitch about accounting. study for two hours and they've got it down.

Engineers: Bitch about applying higher math to abstract theories + bitch about everyone else bitching. Study for 4 years and most of them still don't know what they're doing.

i'm a business major and i'm getting A's in my accounting classes?

being a cs major was much harder
