Why do burned CD's not play in this one CD player??? Please help

I burned some CDs for my folks. They have this 5-8 year old boom box. The CDs won't play in that thing. They play fine in everything else. They were burned with Nero, DAO. Any ideas?

Could it just be taking longer for the old CD player to read the CD?

that be your problem bud....
the CDs that you are burning don't adhere to some standard. You need a certain type of CD. Most older CD players can't play CD-Rs

Try a different colour of CD-R, if that doesn't work, then the CD player's laser just isn't powerful enough to read a burned disc (burned discs are less reflective than original pressed discs)

I told my mom her boom box was too old for the new CD-Rs, but she said my step sister told her her 15 y/o CD player plays CD-Rs fine so I wasn't sure.

The CDs are black Imation 16x. I didn't know the color had anything to do with it. I don't feel like trying different colors. Argh. Technology. lol

Yes, the color might have something to do with it. Especially on an older unit.

Try lighter colors.

Hmmm... Try burning at 1x. I have had my friend's cd player read cds that were burned at only 1x. Anything above wouldn't work.

i think Fuji's are TYs so maybe I will look for some on sale somewhere.

anything 5 years or older its a guessing game on if they will work or not

some do some don't... just the way it is

Also make sure you finish the disk. Alot of CD players will not read unless it is totally closed disk.
