The best is when you destroy someone out test driving a Charger/G35/350Z/TL/335i/etc. Can't say I've encountered all of those cars I listed, but you get the point 😉

New car syndrome. I've had a onslaught of Nissan Titans and Toyota Tundras challenging me lately, with temp tags and all. Creeping, revving, glaring, tailgating then trying to swerve around me regardless of which lane I'm in, and peeling out at lights and challenging me in a Cobra.

I guess because I have to roll my foot gently through pretty much all of 1st and I'm not accelerating very fast that they gain confidence and keep their foot in it thinking they are pulling away, but thats quickly shot down when I get halfway through second and nail it. By the time I coast through the middle of third they've changed their mind.

The best kill story I saw was a new Titan racing a Ford Super-Duty Diesel. I don't think people realize the silly amount of power you can have with only a few mods in any diesel truck.
The Super Duty was also towing a 65 Mustang on a flatbed trailer. That Titan owner's lower jaw dropped in aghast.

100 HP @ 3000 RPM
1000000000 TQ @ 100 RPM

😉

Most of those you don't even need to pop the hood. Just a chip can manipulate the boost settings (digital waste gate? ECU control of variable turbine?) and give you like a 150 hp/tq boost.

Saw a video of a couple people racing on Youtube, can't remember the cars but I think the camera car was some sort of Honda, anyways, he's filming as the two lead cars take off, camera car is struggling to keep up....and out of nowhere comes a tow truck who blows the doors off the Honda and is chasing the two cars racing(maybe in anticipation of a crash?).

Turbo diesels can put the hurt down. My father has a dually with a chip, and that thing is scary fast for being as heavy as it is.

Type S Specs are 3563lbs, 282hp, 256lb/ft, 14.3 1/4 mile.

So it's a little quicker and lighter than the base model.

Did they finally fix the glass transmission? My friend (like so many others) had to have his replaced...so far so good on the new tranny.

only automatics were affected and the worst was the previous generation (01-03 or so).

04-06 autos are not nearly as bad, but hints of problems here and there.

07+ auto was fully revised (even if on the outside the model just got a face lift)
honda autos are like sort of like automated manual gearboxes, not planetary gearsets. a key weakness in the earlier auto design is that earlier designs only had 3 shafts in them, the new design has 4 shafts and is supposed to be stronger.

I think it's also similar in concept to DSG tranny setup except you still have a torque converter instead of a big set of clutches in front.

i have pics of a teardown somewhere but not on this computer. It basically looks like a game of towers of hanoi in progress. it was a relatively modern model with 3 shafts, but like i said, the very newest ones that just came out last year and this year have 4 shafts.

you can also go to hondaautomotiveparts.com and look at parts lists and cut aways for any model. None of them have planetary gearsets.

Is that from locking up the brakes? There are not that many cars that can break-loose at 70MPH let alone a TL.

edit: I used to get a lot of people wanting to race when I had my Acura (think Aluminum)but I usually just laughed it off, now with kids in the car I stay as far away as possible from tiny-dicked morons.

I did it once in my truck at 50 or so on the freeway feeder road. I had gone full throttle to get around somebody who was trying to merge into me to get on the freeway, and the transmission dropped two gears, revved to around 5000 and my rear tires came loose. Bed was empty though, so that probably helped.

But the TL is FWD with over 60% of its weight on the drive wheels. He, the TL driver, probably meant he pulled the e-brake @ 70mph to break the rear tires loose.

🙁

I used to do the thing where I'd try to race a car that I either knew or figured would be much faster than mine just to see what it would do.

The funniest situation though was a long time ago in my '93 Prelude vs. a Viper. I actually beat him to the next stoplight because he just sat and roasted the tires. 😀 No, I didn't win the next section, lol.

Maybe if I want people to race me I should order up some 330 or 328 badges for the M3. 🙂

It'll take more than a badge to hide the wider track, flared arches, hood bump and side gills.

And dual exhaust, and bigger wheels, and yeah... comment was more of a goof than anything.

Though you never know, plenty of people are plenty clueless, and would think "why the hell would a 328 owner do all that work instead of just buying the faster car, it doesn't even look right" ha

Actually, people are REALLY clueless. I bet a lot of people won't even notice, and just think it was indeed a 328.

Peeple iz dum.

geh, ricers. "im so fast because i own a honda/acura, i can beat ANYONE". get a clue buddy, go to the drag strip and race real cars not some little kiddies on the street. this is why they're getting anal about road laws and speeding tickets. christ. let the guy pass you if he's in such a damn rush. cue the intro music to speed racer.

edit: let me ask you this, do you even know if your tires are rated for 110mph? what would have happened if you had blown a tire to shreds at those speeds? take that into consideration before you go that fast again. just because they're "low profile" or "sporty" looking, does not mean they're rated to go fast.

I know of no tire retailer that will put tires on your car that are rated for less than the car's top speed. They have computers that weed through the options for just this reason. You think they really want the liability?

110 MPH isn't exactly a reasonable speed to judge liability. Either way I think the slowest performance rating is 112 MPH ranging to 200 MPH. But that is assuming perfect condition of the tire, car, and road.
