Why do black people suck at tipping?

So my fiancee comes home tonight after a night shift at the restaraunt she works at. She served a 20 person party of (all) black people who came in following a HS graduation. My fiancee busts her ass (she really *is* a great waitress), no issues with food or service, no problems. Party requests check be split into 7 seperate tabs, for a total of around $250. 14 of the 20 people are adults. 5 of the 7 leave no tip at all. Including one with a tab of $55. One guy with tab of $37 leave $7, another lady leaves $3. A grand total of $10! For a party that took up her whole section for over 2 hours!

Yes, I've heard of the studies that say that blacks tip less because their parents were less likely to bring them to restaraunts, or stress that tipping is important, blah blah blah.

But how in God's name does anyone, not to mention FIVE people, completely disrespect a waiter enough to stiff her when you are the only tables she's waited on hand and foot for two hours? What makes black people think this is acceptable? She's resigned to the fact that blacks are going to tip less in general - about 10% compared to her usual 16-18%-, but I have a real hard time understanding this.

No, her restaraunt does not have an automatic gratuity charge for large parties, it was apparently abused in the past by waiters who didn't tell their parties about it.

Asians and Indians suck at tipping too.

Edit: For clarification, I worked at a country club for 4 years and the Asians and Indians there always sucked at tipping. I always got tipped better by whites.

I had a roommate who was a waiter at Ruby Tuesday's who had the same complaint. Fortunately for him Ruby's still allows waiters to grad.

Haha. I'm not racist if that's what you are trying to imply. And white people do not always tip. But in being around her and her co-workers, when whites don't tip, it's generally because there was a food or service problem.
 
Typical ATOTer. My friend who used to deliver pizza said he tries to avoid Indians because they tip less. I wouldn't know because the Indians I know of tip decently. Just because one or two or three act a certain way doesn't mean you judge the entire race accordingly.

The indians and asians in this area very often work corporate for a local fortune 500 company, and seem to tip well, so I don't know whether that's true or not.

I don't really think lack of money has much to do with it. At least not according to her.
 
Maybe that group of people had a problem with tipping a white waitress? (Although I doubt this was the issue)

Maybe that group just didn't like the service? Tips are for outstanding service, not just because you brought the food.

No, but it's been proven that black people tip less. That's not really in dispute. Fine, whatever. I just can't fathom how a group of 18 people could think stiffing a waitress who slaves over your table for 2 hours is somehow acceptable.

Tips are for outstanding service, not just because you brought the food.

Her manager said she saw her busting her ass the whole time for this table. Constantly refilling drinks, making sure they were always taken care of, etc.

1st generation asians probably don't tip well because they don't tip in Asia. They have added gratuities at restaurants.

It's acceptable because a tip is a bonus. She isn't entitled to it and she shouldn't be expecting a tip. She's doing her job and earning her wage.

I'm not saying she wasn't working hard. I'm just saying maybe these people didn't feel like they were being treated in a way that they felt se deserved a tip.
 
You sir are being kinda racist. As if all white/asian/etc people give tips everytime. Your fiance just happened to have a bad table. Not all black people don't tip. Maybe she did something that offended them. Maybe they thought the food was terrible. Etc Etc.
 
Less Money ahha . If they can go to a restaurant which they can afford they should be able to tip well.? Maybe they are cheap , then again they spend loads of money on others stuff like cars, stereos, (IM Kidding ) . I would like to see this study if anyone has a link P.O.S.T.
