i didn't read all 7 pages, so don't go post nazis on me.
I myself don't really have a preference of what race to hang out with, but it has alot to do with what type of asian you are talking about.
well there are really few types.
Fobs - really fresh off the boat, to the point where you can spot them from a mile away.
Ethnocentrics - the ones with all the "asian pride", as if they are better then others. alot of koreans are like this
The introvert nerds - the 4.0 students whos are often times afraid to hand out with whites/blacks, the lack the confidence to speak up and act out.
The ex-fobs - the ones who hang out with mostly asian's but have a good blend of friends from other cultures.
The believers - asians whos are ashamed of their own race. Might sound dumb, but its true. if you ever seen the movie "the believers" you would know. They often feel embarrassed about the way other people of their own ethnicity act.
Twinkies - The ones who are yellow on the outside, but white on the inside. These are the ones who grew up/born here, pretty much white, however they have traditional asian parents who makes them follow their asian cultures.
"adopted" - those who are born, raised and follow the typical american culture.
I personally don't hang out with the fobs and ethnocentrics, they're just not much fun to be around.
wow, i don't think i've seen a more uneducated nor bigoted post. you say it as if every asian fits nicely and exclusively into one of those categories.
fobs? i myself look like a fob. i can speak fluent chinese like a fob. and i'm sure you'd call me a fob if you spotted me from two miles away. but i'm not a fob.
ethnocentrics? you will find many white, black, latino, chinese, vietnamese, and filipino people who are ethnocentric. koreans are not the only ones.
introvert nerds? i was a 4.0 student who had friends both white and black and asian and purple. i'm sure there are many more out there.
ex-fobs? i know many 'ex-fobs' who are still fobs and can't speak english properly.
the believers are just people who are uneducated about their own culture and history of their own culture to appreciate and understand why people of their own ethnicity act the way they do. you might fit here.
am i a twinkie if i enjoy a big piece of rib eye every once in a while yet celebrate the lunar new year? sounds like 'adopted' asians are just too complacent to look outside of their white world. i doubt very many asians truly fit into this group.
i suggest you go out into the world and meet some more people instead of posting judgemental stereotypes. i also sense an implicit hierarchy to your groups. are you too good to hang out with fobs or ethnocentrists? if you give these people no reason to go out of their comfort zone, you really can't expect them to can you? it's so much easier to judge from a mile away.
