It's supposed to be dd/mm/yy, not mm/dd/yy! Why you guys gotta be the other way around?
Whats with all this metric/imperial stuff, and the date things?

I use yyyy-mm-dd

All other systems are stupid. Everyone should use the ISO standard.

Because month and year are the most important, so you can just chop out the middle
AKA:
Today is 4/3/2006
but get rid of that 3 for more general
4/2006
or 4/06

Have you ever played JENGA? You take out the middle peices first... duhhhh.

The day comes first because it's the most specific, then the month, then the year.

It's in order of how specific.

YOUR system is the "wack" one.

Agree - has the added advantage that it sorts properly as a string.

Plus, you write it:
April 3, 2006
Not "3 April 2006" : that looks stupid and the 3 can be combined with any numbers previous to typing/writing the date.

Example:
1:Who is Mike Jones?
2:3 April 2006 was the date that Mike Jones gave birth, what did he name his baby?

You see? Now you have no idea whether that is question 2:3 (ratio) or question 2! Ehhhh??
With "rd" and "nd", it just becomes a fraction instead of a ratio.

We're just different. It's a standard, and it may be illogical, but its just as good as any other, once you memorize it, and we're used to it. Sorry, it's nothing personal against non-americans.

That's what I'm saying is the proper system: dd/mm/yy (or yyyy if you prefer)

So, what is the ISO standard for this? I'm pretty sure it's dd/mm/yy (or yyyy, not sure).

...........And that's how Americans do it....atleast most of us, from what I've seen.

That's how I've seen it most used.

day/month/year

No way, Gatsby.

Look around. The vast majority of us use MM/DD/YYYY

I use DD-MMM-YYYY. Today would be 03-APR-2006. Some habbits from some of my old customers stuck with me and that's one of them.
