as a European, my toilet can flush a hippo or medium sized American. Seriously though, there's been some of those shits like Eddy Murphy used to tell about where I thought "there's no way in hell all that paper can possibly fit in those pipes" but sure enough, it just gobbled up all that shit with no complaints, thinking about it I have actually never clogged a toilet here and I'm quite generous with the 3-ply.

I'm pretty sure in the UK I could legitimately throw a 20-pack of McNuggets in the toilet and it would flush without clogging.

RE low-flow systems: why don't Americans just use the two-button toilets? One for #1 and one for #2. Saves enough water but gets the job done when you need it to.

Never really thought about this.

In the US one of the first things I buy when I move into a new place is a plunger. It's one of those necessities that you get like a toilet bowl cleaner. Something I don't drag around with me to the next apartment or house since that's kinda gross.

In Europe I have never seen a plunger. If you dump a roll of toilet paper in the toilet it will stick for a second and then it will somehow pull it all down. They don't clog.

What's the reason!?

Having worked at Home Depot, I can say it's not the low-flow, it's people being extremely stingy and not wanting to spend more than $100 on a toilet. They even making it simple with a little chart of "flush power." The ones you're always down stocking are always the ones with the weakest power.
