why do americans get such a bad rap for being fat?

I'd say this has something to do with it:
Unbelievably%2BFat%2BPerson.jpg

Cause we eat like pigs, never more than 20 yards from someplace to eat, even our school lunches are greasy crap. The few fatties in other countries suggests they are Americans visiting those other countries for business or pleasure.

Because we have retarded monkeys making food decisions in our schools and businesses.

Pizza for breakfast at school? Mother fuckers.

I don't think it's so much that America has a noticeably larger percentage of fat people, but I do feel that America seems to have a lot more REALLY fat people. That may have more to do with the fact that I have spent my time in big cities outside of the States. While there are overweight people out here, I think that the necessity of physical mobility keeps the numbers of obese and morbidly obese lower. I think in America a lot of people can get by with very little exercise in their day to day lives. Just getting a modicum of daily exercise goes a long way to cutting back on weight. A friend of mine received a knee injury about a year ago and last spring got a job at a factory in the Mainland. He lives at a dorm at the factory so now he lives, eats and works at the same site during the week. This has made a noticeable affect on his weight I think.

The U.S. just has the most media saturation of any nation out there. You talk about yourselves the most, thus everyone hears about America being fat more often than the rest.

that's a decent point... from my experience in the US, cities tend to have fewer overweight people (it might also be like demographic bias... more young/single people. just about everyone gains weight after getting married and having kids, which also could coincide with moving out to the suburbs). could be the same in foreign cities as well.

Jealousy is why we get a hard time from other countries.

The reason for being fatter than before is a move from blue collar work to white collar desk jobs, suburbanization where we drive more often and further, while no real change in dietary habits.

We have an overabundance and easy access to food. Actually, being fat used to be a sign of success and wealth. It still is, sort of.

Because humans are in nature gluttonous junkies and living in the US is like placing a heroine addict in an afghani poppi processing plant.

The list is a ranking of the percentage of the population that is overweight.

I'd love to see a list ranking countries by percent population that is obese.
