Why do Airline Pilots have to go through security?

this. TBH ive NEVER seen the crew waiting in the general line

While boarding at Las Vegas, the pilot didn't have to remove his shoes or belt, just walked into the scanner, waited, then walked off. It was a simpler version of what the rest of us have to do and yes, he was able to walk to the front of the line and do it.

With enough miles, priority security checking can be had. As non-staff you still have to go through the whole routine...but it's fucking hilarious to walk to the front as someone in a Wal Mart sweat suit yells "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM!"
