Linux's biggest hole isn't gaming it's the fact that newbie users don't know how to use it. It has a high learning curve but once you know how to fix it/use it/make it for you it's way better than windows.
That's why I'm thinking about getting a Mac w/ OS X. It has most of the benfits of Linux, well BSD, in something that actually works 90% of the time.

I wouldn't consider Linux's learning curve a hole.
That is one of the things I like about it. It turns the computer from an appliance, to an "entity." That is not to say that it thinks on it's own... But it makes you think. It causes you to actually understand the OS to some degree. In the process, you learn how to prevent almost all of your own problems. That in turn, keeps you from asking me - and others like me - to fix your machines for you.

Well that, and the lack of a registry to foul things up.![]()

Hmm.. I prevent my own problems with winxp and some freeware apps. My machine runs great, and requires very little maintanence. Regardless of how it runs, i wont be going Linux untill I have a pc that doesnt have the intent to play games.

The only cool thing about unix in genral is x11 tunneling. It kicks some much ass being able to log into different computers and have everything basicly work like it should.
