Ask Nintendo if they'll replace it for a reduce price. I think they replace scratched discs for about 20 bucks or so.

aren't they a different format as well, like they aren't just DVD media in a smaller format, I think they're some Matsushita stuff.

Supposedly, they're burned from the outer edge towards the center rather than from the center towards to outer edge.
