Hitler was preaching blond/blue eyed people are superior. Yet Hitler himself was neither.

How did the Nazi's follow such a short, ugly man then?

1. charisma. Think of him as Clinton. Look how people followed(still follow) clinton.

2. He brought them out of a HUGE depression in their economy. At one point, it was cheaper to burn cash for fire rather than pay for it.

*Part* of it was due to the fact that he was one of the most motivational speakers of all time. He also took a country in shambles and turned it into a world superpower.

Overall, old Adolph seemed like a pleasant enough fellow. Charming, charismatic, cool moustache.

He was also very gradual. Hitler began slowly and worked up to his "blonde hair, blue eyes are better" speeches over the course of weeks/months.

Also nobody really liked the jews then (or even still, to a sad degree) so they really didn't care what he did to them

He also struck a chord w/the ppl and told them what they wanted to hear. Kind of like what Slobodan Milosevic did to the Serbs in the early 90s.

Because the Germans were going through hard times after WWI because of the Treaty of Versailles. They needed some leader who promised to bring Germany to power once more. This gave new hope to the Germans and they followed Hitler then.

Germany was licking its wounds after WW1, and Hitler finally laid the blame on someone, the jews. The riled up people. They started to believe. No citizen wants to admit that his/her country lost a war fair and square. some of the citizens must have been traitors. So the jews were nailed with the stigma of helping Britain and France.

hitler was one of the greatest leaders of all time. By this I mean the way he could control people and make them believe what he wanted. However his beliefs were 100% wrong and he lead everyone to believe the wrong thong.

Dont take me wrong here my family is jewish

Adolph Hitler took the wounded pride of a nation and molded it into a super-nationalistic pride with himself at the helm. They didn't tolerate him. They worshipped him as the savior of all things Western. Of course there were those who knew it was BS. The smart ones bailed ASAP. He represented all they WANTED to believe.

I *THINK* he also gave Nazi soldiers a recipe to make a drug they became addicted to out of ordinary household items that they would steal when they raided places, they were high!

He took a nation embarassed by the outcome of WWI and the Versailles treaty, in a really bad economic position, and promised to turn them into a world power. Also, he was a very charismatic speaker as was stated in some other posts, and he played on the fears and hopes of a demoralized nation. These people were willing to grasp on to any ray of hope, even though he himself was not even German, Aryan or anything like that.

Some theorize that Hitler developed his rabid anti-semitism while he was aroun 16 in Vienna. Tried to get into art school (thought he was an incredible artist, and that it was his calling) but was turned down. While on the streets, he picked up the anti-semitism from some others. Actually, I believe he blamed Jews for his failure to get admitted to art school (claimed they were in control)
There is a wonderful book if anyone is interested called The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer. Very good reading.

Great book. I was late in the morning many times due to reading that into the wee hours.
