why did my start button change into "St rt"? (running win2k pro)

Did you change the display settings? like the text color, icon spacing, maybe a theme?

wow thats cool, i've never heard of that happening.

the interesting thing is, that "Start" is buried deep inside the binary explorer.exe, aka the windows shell/gui. So in order for yours to dissapear that one little byte in memory or on disc must have fried.
