Why did my elbow (around bursa sac?) all of sudden get inflamed, red, and sore? From my limited knowledge of the human anatomy it seems to be right on/around the bursa sac. Do I have bursitis or some sort of infected bursa sac? Can it appear quickly, like within 2 hours? I don't remember doing any damage to it, but do rest my elbow point on my desk chair and also my car arm rest a lot.

You will get better answers here in H&F. It may take longer for a response, but it is well worth it. AT Mod DAPUNISHER

have you dislocated your elbow cap recently?

Not that I know of. I did bleed a little from under my finger nail when I snagged it on the rat trap I was setting a few days ago. I hope I didn't get rat infecting in my finger and then it spread to my elbow.

It feels warm and looks red, so I know there is at least a small infection. I just hate spending time going to the doctor. I don't even have a primary doctor since I recently switched jobs, insurances, and locations. Especially since they'll probably say ice it and take some pain killers/anti-inflammatory.

Hmmm... inflamation of the bursa, and thinks it might be bursitis, which means inflamation of the bursa. Hmmmm... Nope, not sure what it is. I think you need a real Dr, not a Dr of pizza.

Too much repetitive motion?

I had an elbow blow up like that last year, and the only thing that I could think of was some repetitive motion from painting a bunch of fencing.
I took boatloads of ibuprofen and wrapped it up. It took a couple of weeks to go away completely.

Called a doctor friend I know and she called in a antibiotics treatment. It saves me the hassle, time, and money of going to a doc. I'll take the cycle of antibiotics, ice, Aleve, maybe some compression.

Hurts like a mofo and gives me headaches b/c I'm tense and in pain.

If I die ATOT can have my katana, throwing stars, and pajamas.

I'm no professional cook, but it sounds like your steak is drying out. Try boiling it 1st to get it thoroughly cooked, then place it in the broiler to get that sizzled texture.

lol @ the random antibiotic prescription.... wonderful. And we wonder why there are so many antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria.

Well I did talk to another medical professional and she said that's most likely what a doctor would prescribe as the first round of medication. Ya, probably not the smartest but I don't currently have a doc b/c of job and insurance switch. If I had a normal doc who was close I'd just go there. I'll probably try to find one today though.

I have little bumps on my elbows that each contain a thin almost microscopic hair. Every now and then, one gets infected and I get a red bump with soreness (can't rest anything on my elbow) and sometimes puss.

I have one right now on my left elbow.

It is already infected and I have antibiotics. I should go to the doctor though. I'm thinking of going to Urgent Care right now and see what they say. If the antibiotics are enough or if they want to drain and test the fluid. GD $hit hurts and is making my knee joints and gonads sore and achy.

Do you remember doing anything that involved hitting your elbow, funny bone, or tricep area? Do you remember doing anything that would use your triceps a lot? How about gripping? Did you do anything excessively physical lately? Antibiotics is probably the worst prescription I've ever seen for elbow inflammation, unless you have a wound leading into it. Bursitis can occur, especially if you spend a lot of time on your elbows (i.e. propped up on them while studying, etc). Otherwise, it's not likely to be that. It's much more likely to be either muscular or nerve related, if you don't remember smacking your elbow on anything. Don't take the antibiotics. You're going to increase your resistance to it that specific one for no reason.

Does the pain come with any extra numbness or tingling, especially in the pinky and ring finger? How about weakness when gripping? Does extending your elbow increase the pain?

I don't remember smacking it somewhere. Nothing that would use triceps or muscles a lot. I do rest the point of my elbow on my car armrest when I drive a lot and once in a while would experience a sudden shot of pain.

And I agree about antibiotics. I wouldn't normally take them for something that is swollen and sore. However it is red and hot and I'm starting to get flu like symptons (slight fever?, sore joints, back, etc.) which makes me pretty sure I've got on infection.

There is no numbing or tingling but it is very painful to extend the elbow fully or close my arm fully.

Update? Did they amputate?

I still have my arm. Just taking Aleve, Ibuprofen, and the Anti-biotic. A lot of the fluid and swelling is going down....some of it just moved further down my arm. So instead of a huge ball of fluid now it's just spread out :)

It feels way better though and I no longer feel flu-like. Feels like a big numb ball of fluid or tissue or something on the elbow now if I put pressure on it. Hurts when I bump it on something though..oh man.

Thanks for asking
