Why did Krispy Kreme lose franchise rights in Canada/Mexico?

What the hell happened? They opened up a few stores here in Toronto, and now their site says that they no longer have franchise/development rights within Canada. Same goes for Mexico.

It doesn't mean that Krispy Kreme is no longer allowed to open stores in Canada, Mexico or Western Europe. It means they are not currently accepting any new applications for more new franchise developments (stores) in those areas. They only allow a certain number of franchise developers in a given area and they feel they have already reached their saturation point in the areas they've currently been developing.

Yeah, Doughnuts are not supposed to be healthy, but they aren't supposed to be extremely harmful either.

Krispy Kreme's doughnuts are harmful and quite nasty in taste too. At least if it tasted great it would be worth the overload of sugar and fat. I actually enjoy the doughnuts from Krispy Kreme's competitor, who've been here much longer. They make quality doughnuts, albeit more sugary than I would like.

Canada and Mexico made a wise decision, even though their reasons are likely different.
