Why did I wait so long to go optical?

I just bought an MX300 Logitech mouse, and I can't believe how accurate it is. It's even noticably more accurate than the original Logitech Optical mouse. I know this because today I originally bought the older Logitech mouse which wasn't part of the MX series, and after reading some reviews about the MX series, I decided to take that one back and get the one I have now, which was only five bucks more and performs ten times better. Logitech makes great shctuff.

Edit: After reading so many reviews about the MX series, it occured to me that I might be better suited with the MX500, as it's a bit bigger than the MX300, and has a few more programmable buttons. Well, I didn't think it could be too much better, as I was extremely happy with the MX300, but I am even more happy with this version. It is so handy. I recommend the whole MX series. Each step up is better than the last, and that is saying something since they are all great mice. I think I'll stay with the MX500, although everyone says the MX700 works just as well, except it boasts cordless goodness. Reason being I already have a cordless ball mouse, and I can't afford or justify the extra twenty US dollars.

I think the price made me feel as though they couldn't be so much better as to justify the difference in price between a ball mouse and an optical. I was wrong, it's definitely worth the premium price, as the performance increase is unmeasurable.

i know what you mean... getting optical is 10 times better than the traditional ball mices... when i first got the logitech optical mouse, i was sold on it... loved how you never have to worry about cleaning the mouse or having problems because of dirt on the wheels..

the logitech mx series is definently worth it.. even the mx500 and mx700... they have the best optical technology on the market right now.. there isn't another mouse out right now that can perform better than it.. it has a steep price, but it comes with so many features that it is well worth the money that you pay for them..
 
Yeah... optical mice are just so much better. Once you try them, you'll never go back to ball mice. Ever!

I used to own MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 but replaced it with Logitech MX500. Great mouse. Feels much much better. My one complaint is that Logitech's drivers are no way near that of Microsoft's... But other than that, MX series are awesome!
 
One of the first things I did when I started my current job was buy an optical mouse to replace the one that came with my workstation. I only bought a basic 2 button + wheel dealio, but it is so much better than the junky 2-button (no wheel) roller mouse they had me using. Sometimes if you want it done right...

It is very hard to go back once you get used to optical.
 
I can't imagine the desktop working any better than a RatPadzGS. It just seems unnatural not have a mouse on a pad. 🙂
 
My desktop is very smooth and tracks excellently because it's made of wood. I might get a RatPadz soon though, because it's starting to make a big yellow spot! =D
 
Optical mouse? No thanks, i rather have 10mbit DSL connection then this. Still using ball mouse here and for convenient, if its too dirty, toss it out the windows cause I got 20 more that I got for 2 bucks ea sitting right next to me, LOL. quantity pretty much make up for lack quality, heh.

I guess you`re no gamer 😉,I would rather have 10mbit connection with an Optical mouse like the MX series then a ball type mouse,infact I can`t go back to a ball type mouse ,they suck big time IMHO .

Ball mice suck so much that I'd rather use my optical mouse and administer my server via the latency-impaired and visually terrifying Terminal Services connection than slide my chair over two feet and log in locally (with a ball mouse). :Q

you sure did wait a while. I've been using the ms intellimouse optical for about 3 years now. it was $40 then and it works as good as the day I bought it.
