I originate from Algeria (and i m also french, vive la France!!), laws are not that wonderfull there but there s no lashing and any other punishments that are found in the country you re talking about, although homosexuality is not legal and is fined 20$, but we are far from the exemple you re quoting, should the Algerian people be assumed as being the kind you re quoting because they are also muslims..?.
The lashing was in saudi arabia. I had meant to write that.
have you read the CIA torture report? I don't think textbooks feature very much in American culture either...
Not read, but aware of it. It is not blessed by society at large like events in the muslim world are on religious crimes. Of course, as a decent person I am disgusted at how the CIA has behaved and am sad people are not in prison for it. No group on the planet has a monopoly on barbarism, but that doesn't mean we can't categorize.

The thing is.... Europeans are not bigoted nor red necked as Americans are.
Going back decades, many minorities were welcome and treated as equals by Europeans.
Blacks, especially black singers and entertainers chose to live in Europe rather than put up with the intolerance and bigotry over in America.

Al-Qaeda terrorist have taken advantage of the welcome and acceptance from Europeans, with Europeans a bit taken back to say the least that any group would take advantage of European's open arms policy.

How Europeans will deal with this betrayal of their generosity is yet to be seen.
And something quite new and shocking for them to deal with.
Naturally, terrorist flocked to European countries to take advantage of their openness and acceptance. A good safe secure place to operate and hide.

Will Europeans think of this terrorist attack of late as one in a million, a fluke?
Or will they change their attitude when it comes to that open arms policy?

Yeah, as far as Europe goes, the damn terrorist are going to spoil it for everyone.

You mean thoses prizes that are awarded to jews by other jews..?.

Hiow is it that renewed jewish nobel prized Feynmann that was branded a genius didnt manage along with an other nobelised to renormalize some fundamentals physics laws despite years of research.??.
He and P. Matthews, another nobel were unsuccessfull but the thing was solved by a 25 year student in less than 6 months, of course this student did have to wait 25 years to get the nobel, and still, they flocked him with two jews whose credentials were obviously weak with one publishing two month later, systemlaticaly, what said real genius, Abdus SALAM, was publishing, that is, they nobelised two worthless scientists as a mean to downplay this exceptional brain merit.

Of course i wont talk of Einstein who was unable to master the tensor theory that was needed for "his" theory (that he plagiarised from Henri Poincarré), all computation were done by his woman, who was much more talented than him in maths, as well as by a jewish mathematician that helped him during all his works, it s no wonder that Einstein stated that "the secret to fame is to know how to hide your sources", terrible aknowledgment that he plagiarised said Poincarré.
Jealous and misinformed much??

Jew have 150 + Nobel prizes and Muslims actually have 10??? What gives??

Perhaps the Muslims have issues with science and
mathematics...etc.....

Every time you talk about jews you sound like a lunatic with rabies going "Rawwrgh Rawrgh" and no one can understand what you're saying.

If you look at any group in the history of the world, you will find violence and brutality associated with it. We humans have blood on our hands - all of us. Our hearts and minds are full of venom so lets not point fingers at anyone - only point the finger at yourself.
Sir, this statement should be the first lesson in any history class, all over the world.

And if there wasn't for Ottomans and Venice god knows what coffee we would be drinking today.
Proly some instant US crap, instead of that fine Italian espresso :p
Indeed, they make lovely coffee, best in the world :)

Things keep getting worse, unfortunately.
But may I ask, where is the intelligence role over there in France?
I mean, they got linked to Al-Qaeda, shouldn't such people be closely monitored and watched over? (not implying to anything, honestly just wondering)

Are things getting worse?

Or is the world just getting cozier, with news from around the globe beamed to our retinas via a dozen 24/7 sources?

Are we basing socioeconomic health on CNN's headlines, or based on data from real indicators like job growth, GDP, public health, education, access to resources, etc?

Sad you have a Jewish flag and call yourself JEDIYoda.

I wonder if a *true* Jew or a *true* JEDIYoda would say something such as this.

But carry on displaying the Israeli flag. Whatever suits your purpose.

The world is getting more blind, more mainstream, more shallow, more gullible, more lazy, more hateful. Yet we all think that we're advancing due to new gadgets and technology. Yes, people are writing and reading more across the globe but that won't solve any fundamental problem. You can't really measure hate, conditioning and selfishness in a laboratory so that's why it seems as if the world might getting "better."

You are right though - the 24/7 access to news makes us feel that we're right there, even though we have no idea whatsoever what is actually going on. Everyone is an expert now because he heard some radio guy or saw some TV anchor say something. We all have our opinions we want to share with everyone thanks to social media. It's like, we think our petty little opinions matter. Those opinions we formed from watching something thousands of miles away that we haven't a clue about. And we formed them not by watching them; our conditioned minds filtered out the truth and put in what we believe is the truth - which is not the truth at all.

From what I can see that's saying that parts of Europe are the most tolerant areas on the planet and other parts aren't.

I bet it would be pretty equivalent to the US really.

People everywhere get het up when others come in to take advantage of the wealth of a new area.

Hell, you guys invented a new ethnicity to make your incomers more "other".

That's not what I meant, I think you misunderstood my point.

As far as the news go, I'm one of the people who stopped believing in, I don't believe all what my eyes see or my ears hear, but that's for another topic.

I heard a French Intel officer discuss it. Their problem is insufficient personnel. France has a fairly large Arab Muslim population (per capita wise). They also have a fairly large segment of that Arab Muslim population that is suspected of participating in terrorism. IIRC, the French Intel officer said it takes 3-10 people to constantly surveil and track a suspect. (I guess the disparity might be due to frequency of travel and such.) France lacks sufficient personnel, so if some suspect goes 'quiet' they shift resources elsewhere. Apparently these brothers went quiet and France stopped the intensive surveillance and they slipped away unseen.

You don't like what it says so you interpret it incorrectly. Europe is more racist than North America. I would be open to empirical data contrary to this.

Thanks Fern, the scary question remains though - how many others are still there? those freaks are scaring the Muslims who live there, as much as they do to the Europeans.
