i've noticed that almost all CNN stories related to Ferguson/Brown or Israel/Palestine are no longer allowing commenting. They've either been removed or turned off completely. i'm sure other news sites are following the same pattern. is it because the number of enraged people has finally surpassed the number of paid provacateurs? is the push for the archaic, one-way communication being bought back to stop free thinking people from posting their intellectual opinions?

i personally skip articles and go straight to the comments. :(

So do i. And youre right, its because they have seen the outrage of people. People now use the comment section to spread the truth and cnn does not like that. The trolls are looking dumb while the others speak the truth about ferguson and Israel/Gaza situations.

i just read an article on CNN ( literally) just now and it says that anti semitism is on the rise in Europe. Thats a lie and they dont talk about a member of parliament in the UK being beaten by by an IDF supporter or how many israelis have been violently protesting against an arab/jew marriage in Tel Aviv or about how Israelis are running down the streets of Israel chanting "death to arabs" and insulting islam and all that. Youtube racism in israel and filter your search to recent, you will be disgusted with what you see but of course somehow cnn misses that but when its to bash palstinians they are on it.

Same thing with the Ferguson situation, they know the comment sections is being taken over by ppl that wanna speak the truth about these things, they cant lie anymore.

The CNN comments section only allows comments for trivial topics. I played a game with a friend of mine that we called "guess if you're allowed to comment on a CNN article by reading the headline/title of the article." We played this game for every section on CNN, such as "world, money, justice, health and living" and others. In every topic area there are articles you cannot comment on, and some you can. If it is a topic worth discussion, the comments are disabled. Vaccines, medicine, politics, world events, those are just some of the topics that are off limits. A recipe or Justin Beiber are examples of things you are allowed to comment on. The comments section are important for a democratic society, as free public debate are crucial for its success. It seems a majority of the commentator share some things in common in regards to what they are personal experiencing and how they see the world, this can be intimidating for people who are out of touch with the common working class. I am not surprised the comments sections were shut down. This is not an isolated occurrence, other major news networks shut their down too. Also, of note, some more sophisticated tactics being used are shutting the comments feature off after a few minutes or a few hours of the article being available in the morning. "This comment section is now closed" I check the time it was posted and choke on my coffee. Really? It's been 15 minutes since you put it up. for example leading into the comments ban , CNN prepared readers for it by posting, the following article on the topic. Two quotes worth examining for its relevant clue on how the CNN team views posters, trolls, and discussions, "Give other commenters more power to "up-vote" or "down-vote" posts? "We don't really believe in the democratic process of decision-making when it comes to discussion," Denton said." ""The idea of capturing the intelligence of the readership -- that's a joke."" See for yourself: http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/11/tech/web/online-comments-sxsw/

Turning off comments almost off is usually a tell tale sign that CNN writers are about to deluge readers with tons of anti-Islamic content. Not that I am for islam mind you but that the fact is they want to froth up and move people spirits as this is of course a propaganda machine at work.

If we had a time machine and went back in time to the 1960's and abducted people like Richard Pearle and similar akin to him like evangelical end time cults and remove them from any radio/tv debates then fast forward back to today and you will see the WTC still standing. USA would be even handed to all nations playing no favoritism to Israel just because majority of us are Christians.

Blame the manipulators

Who the hell reads the comments of news articles? They tend to be the lowest dredges of society splurging vitriol with ill abandon because they can find no other place where they won't be immediately shunned for the disgusting people they are; Youtube comments tend to a step above those.

The only good thing about CNN was the comments actually.

Especially CNN money. Literally I think you could be a millionaire if you just did the exact opposite of whatever news story they run that tries to predict the future.

I really enjoy when they run some kind of like "Millennials more likely to live in apartments than own a home because they saw what happened to their parents in 2008, bound to start buying houses in droves any second now" And the first comment is like "Millenials rent because they are %^&$ing broke thats why they rent" with like a bajillion upvotes makes me laugh everytime when I spot the upvoted 1liner that refutes the whole feel good article.

Because when you find the real root of any issue dealing with the middle east then find the conflict was based on a lie/deception then all hell would break lose in America.

So I am sure Psyops from the pentagon advised them to close the comment section down just because certain real truth were coming out while the reporters kept cheerleading for the opposition for eternal wars and the end time cults.

The above is one side of it and the other side of it is dealing with immature jerks who did not like the real answers they found in the comments section because it violated their faith in the new world order.

So yeah kinda sad when the main mod is one of those factions who love this war and loves seeing people dying for a cause that has nothing to do with America even though USA blood is shed for them.

So yeah. Sick evil cults are the main cause of this and I have data that can back up my claim on this.

No I do not lurk to wait for replies. Sometimes It can be 3 weeks before I reply.

All kinds of evidence is out there.

as far as I can tell, yes. CNN is more interested in propaganda than informing. Some of their articles have been so laughable that I just had to comment. The last time I remember completely writing off CNN was when they attributed Indians investing in gold being to "greed'. As if India hasn't had a history of inflation and corrupt leadership...

Actually, CNN has allowed an amazing amount profanity and insane racist/sexist rants stay on their comments sections...they like that sort of neanderthal banter. The reason I think they've disabled their comments sectiin now is b/c lately in the past few months I've noticed that there have been a lot of intelligent, well-structured scathing reviews in the comments about CNN in general and the nausea-inducing quality of their sh*tty journalism. In other words, most comments following an article started become dominated about people talking a/b how bad the article was. So you see, CNN doesn't care if we the people sh*t all over eachother..they actually prefer that...but they hit the panic button once most of the comments turned against THEM. Cowards.

I read CNN less and less because there are no comments. Yahoo seems to have them without fail. Even the guardian uk still has comments. I dont think a troll infestation is to blame. I dont see it on their websites so.....I think cnn just wants to control the message.

Long story short = they'll lose an enormous amount in regards to revenue due to it.

The people who dislike the comments the most are the majority of the authors of the articles. They hate the bickering and they constantly complain to editors that the comments are pointless and draw away from the real story that they slaved so hard to write.. They're happy the comments are gone. Some would even demand comments be turned off on their articles.. which they allowed to be turned off from time to time.

But this affects revenue in a serious way. The adverts they post on their page are directly related to hit counts. At first CNN will try to say their hit counts are more accurate now and each hit is worth more than before since there's not a plethora of hits from one user refreshing the page... But the number of visitors will decline rapidly also. So not only are individual hits, but also unique visitors will both go down. Once the unique visitors drop, the cost advertisers pay CNN to show their adverts will drop substantially.

All this will happen because many 'readers' at CNN are there for the comments and comments alone. They read the headline, and then straight to the comments. Others are there to read a article and then express their opinion about it. And of course some are there to just read articles and they pay little to no attention to the comments. Once the comments are completely (or almost completely) shut down, a large portion will stop frequenting CNN as much. And once their traffic diminishes, their revenue from adverts diminishes, and then they'll bring the comments back.

You, hell even THEY might think that they're doing something good...they're keeping people from arguing, and making it easier on themselves...but what it all boils down to ...is the main one calling shots cares about revenue first and foremost... give it 2 to 3 months and comments will be back in full force. All because they want more money.

we'll see.

IMO based on the articles I've seen, CNN is too religiously liberal to care about the revenue.

No, actually cnn seems to like the childish opinionated comments. I have posted comments on their site that either add facts to the article or prove part of the article wrong. My comment then gets deleted. They do not like truth. They do not like a rational debate between commenters either. Cnn wants to look like the smartest person in the room and it seems too many people are posting facts that cnn didn't catch for their article so now they are doing away with comments.

agree

Has enough time past to let us all in on those evil cults?
So all this time past you can not see the evil cults yet?
A. Neocons
B. ANTIFA
C. Marxists
D. So called Democratic Socialists.(No such thing)
E. Liberals who support A,B,C,D and abortion because it is not human.

I sound like a conservative but actually I am a centrist.
