Regular people are hardly radicals.

The list from the article read like a list of protest signs at a Tea Party rally.

And support for repealing the health care bill isn't as high as they'd like the believe. At least half of the people who dislike the health care bill wanted the Government to do more. It counts people like me - I support a repeal but only if the immediate replacement is Medicare for All. No mandates aside from Medicare, no requirements for companies to provide insurance, and private insurance/VA/Medicaid would only have to worry about the 20% coinsurance and things that Medicare doesn't cover. And no requirements for private insurance to cover any particular condition. But yeah, I'm right in line with the Tea Party because I could support a repeal.

Remember, "It's the economy, stupid." People vote based on how they're doing financially or how well they will be doing in the near term. As the incumbent party, its up to the Democrats to prove that they have the country on an upward swing. The Republicans voting against an anti-offshoring bill gave the Democrats a nice gift.

Its really going to come down to marketing because neither party really has the balls to take on the Free Trade Religion, H1-B abuse, offshoring, and rebuild our economic base. And let's face it, how many of those rich assholes really give a shit about the Middle Class, aside from votes? They're set either way.

Just pointing out medicare for all is a horribly stupid idea. As medicare is currently set up it is already in a $40trillion+ hole over the next couple decades.

The election at this point has more or less been decided. Republicans will take the house. Thanks to the stupid Tea Party they will not win the Senate. They will have 48-49 senate seats.

"Democrats are the party of government activism, the party that says government can make you richer, smarter, taller, and get the chickweed out of your lawn. Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work, and then they get elected and prove it. "

-P.J. O'Rourke

Keep this truth in mind when you wish upon a star that your favorite candidate wins by far.

Add in millions of younger people who will pay premiums but use few services and the deficit will be eliminated. The problem with Medicare now is that it serves a population that is almost entirely unhealthy due to age. Medicare for All greatly expands the risk pool to include healthy individuals who use no health care.

The election at this point has more or less been decided. Republicans will take the house. Thanks to the stupid Tea Party they will not win the Senate. They will have 48-49 senate seats.

There's still a month to go. Don't hold your breath.

More bitter disappointment ahead for the rightwingers.

Just like when Edwards was going to kick Cheney's ass in the debates? Yeah, that turned out well.

I don't see him running, but you'd better hope someone like George Will doesn't run because people will be saying "Obama who?"

I don't like the republicans, but I'm at least in NY I'm going to vote for anyone who has a chance of beating the Dems who ran this state into the ground. I'm hoping they have a bitter disappointment.

LOL, I still remember the lefties trying to spin that as a win for Edwards even though anyone with a brain, two eyes, and two ears saw that Darth Cheney badly embarrassed him.

He would be an interesting candidate. My bet, however, is for Mitch Daniels to run and be one of the top contenders.

Democrats are not man enough to vote on the Tax increase! If they wont vote to make the Bush Tax cuts permanent they dont deserve to be asked to return. Give us a vote now, or dont come back!

Democrats are chickens.

I'm still not convinced it will be as much a blood bath as everyone seems to think right now. The public despises the Democrats, but they don't particularly like the Republicans either. Considering that a recent poll found Republicans much more likely to vote for an independent or third party than are the Democrats, I think Republican support may be weaker than anticipated.

Have to admit I'm really looking forward to gridlock though. :D

Not like the American people who would never elect Obama. Who ever heard of a party tying itself to the President from their party? Crazy!

Idiotology.

Typical tight-wing cult mentality. Turning constitutional law professor Obama's preference to respect Congress into this sort of six year old idiot slam attack.

Obama was wrong to do it, but not for the reasons cult members like CC say.

Say it enough times, the big lie technique.

Here's a cracker, for your doing nothing but parroting right-wing propaganda.

Which is a good reason why massive funding from rich interests for propaganda campaigns is to poisonous to democracy. It kills it with lies.

Which would be a fair discussion if your post wasn't predictably completely absent of a word about the alternative, the disastrous Republicans who are far worse.

That does matter in an election.

The election isn't between Democrats and Republicans, it's between voters either voting 'are they happy with how things are going and blindly voting in Republicans', or are they going to notice that they are picking Democrats or Republicans and voting Republicans is disastrous.

That's why Republicans almost only talk about Democrats, and why Democrats are referring to a choice between the parties.

Exactly what you'd expect from an election with terribly low approval for Democrats (make the election about them!) and worse for Republicans (make it about choice!)

you been spending time over at hellers, cause those some wondrous delusions of grandeur that exist only between your ears.

What's absolutely hilarious about this thread is the repubs acting like they had absolutely nothing to do with the situation the country is currently in, and that it's all Pres. Obama's fault, while they completely ignore the fact that the crushing damage their ideology caused over the Bush years will take many more years to correct. And what's their plan to fix what they broke?.....Just more of the same crap that got us into this fine mess to begin with.

That's it in a nutshell.

and I suppose that congress was an innocent white sheep in the matter?

The whole system is broke. I really wish there was a way to fire them all, whipe out all government spending and go back 100% to the way the Founding Fathers wanted things.

4 years of dem congress have pretty much destroyed the country. Time to kick them all out and get sensible conservatives back in office to turn it around. It's our only hope. You forget most people want Bush back over the current shit in the whitehouse.

seeing how they ran things from 2001 - 2006, there is no such thing as a sensible conservative. just as there is no such thing as a sensible liberal. they're both sold to the highest bidder.

and if you believe otherwise you are a fool.

Are they? Or is that just a nice simple assumption you like?

Why don't you tell me who Bernie Sanders sold himself to?

How about Zoe Lofgren (the Congresswoman who just brought Steven Colbert to Congress to publicize migrant workers' situation?

How about Henry Waxman?

If you simply reply that they have causes they fight for as 'corruption', you're clueless.

bernie sanders isn't a D or an an R, he's an I. and there may be a few that haven't, but the parties themselves have. just look at "obamacare", it's a protection racket for the insurance industry. there should have been a public option.
