Why Chrome is inferior and always will be inferior

the point is...WHO CARES?????

I ask my unanswered question....what's the worst they are going to do, send you and email??

I've had pages refuse to load due to a dead adserver. It can also slow browsing significantly. You can easily see the delays when you're on a less than stellar connection. AT loads from 2 adservers before it displays the page. Sometimes the waits fairly long.

This is true. When I unblocked Anandtech's ad server the forums became unbearably slow.

Although original Chrome didn't work well on all sites and current Chrome for me forgets cookies on all my installs from time to time it's still the go-to for me. I have come to an understanding many years ago that I WOULD RATHER KILL HUMAN BABIES WITH A CAR than tolerate slowness when I don't need to and Chrome loads quicker than other browsers and new windows pop up instantly.

I use Firefox. I see no perceptible improvement with Chrome. Wish Firefox had an integrated email app that you could open in a tab like you can in Opera. I've tried to move to Opera exclusively but it just doesn't happen.

IE is the only browser where I actually feel there might be something wrong with my Internet connection because of how long it takes sometimes to load pages. Firefox/Chrome/Opera - they all feel the same to me.

I know how to use HOSTS files, any recommended solutions that would automatically download and overwrite/append the existing HOSTS file?

Wells, HostsMan looks decent with a bit of Googling. Edit 2: And it appears to be a junk approach. Adblock Plus >>>>>>>>>>> super hosts file. After running all the updates, merging and deleting duplicate entries, I ended up with a ~4.5MB HOSTS file. And it still missed a ton of stuff just casually checking out Facebook and random porn.

I've gotten more crashes with Chrome than just about any other browser, barring IE.

Same here.

Oh and not everything is HMTL5 on youtube there is plenty of videos that will never be HTML5 unless there reuploaded. Not going to happen.

Firefox 3.7 or 4.0 could be as fast or faster than chrome.

my issue with FF is that it will resize the fonts on some sites, including here without any input from me. it does it in win7 but not linux.

Its funny how adamant support is over free shit, you'd think this was something like an AMD vs. Intel or ATI vs. nVidia thread...only that crap can be chalked up to idiots defending their decision to dump their rent money on hardware they shouldn't be buying, so it at least makes some sense why people are so batshit insane.

Nerds just can't be wrong though, so there must be arguments.

Opera has this market on lockdown. Opera Mini 5 for Windows Mobile is easily an ACTUAL 5x faster than IE mobile.

Opera Mini 5 is just terrible. Version 4 is really fast but 5 is so god damn slow. Just scrolling left or right will take damn near a full second while it thinks about what it's trying to do.

Right, but it's still faster. And you forgot to address the bloat issue. Does the current version still have memory leaks? I can't be bothered to re-read this thread 😛

It's not faster than Firefox with adblockplus. Trust me I know from using both on my netbook.

On a normal desktop, the speed differences are not noticeable, but on a netbook they are.

I am literally using more battery power to run Chrome than Firefox.

It's also extremely annoying to have the page formatting change because the "adblockers" are busying hiding ads. There's a video in this thread showing that format changing in these forums. The forum list on the left side changes shape for no good reason.

There's other annoying things in Chrome. If I have two tabs open, both with dark objects or backgrounds, and I close one tab. Chrome doesn't do an instant transition to the next open tab, I'm temporarily blinded by the default white background, THEN it transitions to the second tab.

Firefox is using 150mb of RAM with anandtech homepage open, engadget and this forum open.

I like Chrome myself. Seems faster for what I do. If they make a couple more dollars off ads then so be it, if it's faster then its faster.
