Why cant word 07 open wordpad docs?!

Seriously, I have maybe 500 documents I have to re-save in word03 format because this program refuses to open them. This may just drive me insane 🙁
 
i have been running office 07 for a couple of weeks now and i really dont like the funky toolbar in word 07. you have to add the icons that are used every stinking day like print, open, save, copy, past... to that itty bitty quick launch toolbar. then the stuff i NEVER use like style is in the big ass toolbar and i cant get rid of it... nope i dont like word 07 at all.

It can't open RTFs? Serious? 😱
 
My Word 2007 has no problem opening Wordpad .rtf files.
Try settting Word to open .rtf's by default.

ditto. im still using office2k here at work, i really dont want to upgrade. it does everything we really need it to do.
 
i have to say, office 2007 has been a huge disappointment. it's going to take some getting used to... i dont know any of the short cuts in excel, they have all changed!!!

It's my old standby. I've been using it since it's inception, and the free Star Office before that. I do have the preview of Office07 on my rig right now and have to admit liking it.
 
I just created a test document using wordpad, saved it as an RTF, and then opened it with Word 07 no problem.

I, for one, welcome our new Office 2007 overlords.

edit: Really though, I think it is the best MS Office package yet. Usability has increased significantly despite having to re-learn where everything is.
 
I would send ya some but there all confidential business docs. When I try to open them in 07 it asks me what language I want to use and then when I pick english it displays it in a bunch of jumbled characters.

It took a little while to get used to, but now I find it harder to use 2003.

rtf files open fine in Office 2007. Sounds like a PEBKAC error to me.
