America needs oil.
America doesn't Africa.

Therefore, America should spend money on oil while not spending money on Africa.

I think it is pretty self explanatory.

true. but we can't change that until we change a lot of things. i don't see humanity getting to that point with religion, need for resources for energy and food and living space.

Humanity has great potential and could solve some of these problems, but I agree with you 100%: I don't see anything changing either.

i guess i was a little hasty, i should have said, we need to work on moving away from needing the military. i personally am capable, and evolved enough that i dont see the use for it.. but there's still people who aren't... a few more generations maybe?

But what about the asshats that aren't on the same page and continue to instigate confict and war, dictators who abuse their power, etc. With your plan, how do you deal with them? Simply turning the US Military into the Peace Corp and sending them to Africa won't change their minds, and I am sure they would take advantage of a US suddenly devoid of a Military. The minds you need to work on first are at the bottom of the barrel.
 
Help people instead of killing them?

When I was deployed to Baghdad as part of the surge, my Company:

-Reduced violence in our sector by 82%
-Got rid of three torture cells
-Captured a man who had killed over 100 women and CHILDREN just because they were -Sunni and he was Shia
-Helped to build 3 schools
-Set up a police academy which hired over 300 locals to give them jobs and help police t heir neighborhoods
-Organized a local construction co-op which provided over 800 jobs and made improvements to the local area, including the first ever lighted street for one section of town
-Stopped the civil war by starting a reconciliation counsel. When we first got there all the shia and sunni did was shoot each other. By forcing them to meet, by the time we left they were having weddings together.
-Drove out all major terrorist and thug groups but one, and that group was underground

Oh, and my platoon killed a total of ZERO civilians.

I could go on. What have you done to help lately?
 
All our wars are fought over money and backed by big business which is what really runs this country. There is no money to be made helping poor African nations so we just turn a blind eye and let their leaders kill millions of their own citizens. Now the middle east? There's lots of money to be made there! That's where we should throw billions of dollars!!!

I'm sure you would have reduced violence by 154% if you didn't go in armed and had tye dye on instead of kevlar. 🙄

This is an excellent example of why a well funded and armed military is still required. Great job!
 
ZJ....you've got some nice Star Trek ideas, unfortunately, in this world at this time (or any time prior to today), these ideas just won't fly.

For instance, take your idea of just removing our military from every spot they're currently stationed around the world. So what happens, for instance, the moment we leave South Korea? Think North Korea will just become a nice, soft, cuddly, safe neighbor to S. Korea, or would the reality be that N. Korea would immediately invade S. Korea?

Or take what's happening in the Ivory Coast. Without military force being used, Laurent Gbagbo would still be clinging to power, and still ignoring the valid election of Alassane Ouattara as president of that country.

Until the scum of the earth are no longer in power, the One World at Peace idea will remain just that.....an idea that will not come to fruition. It'll take some overwhelming global event to make the petty dictators forget their selfish power grabs and work with the more "enlightened" parts of the world.

I prefer we help Americans rather than anyone else, after all it's our dollars. Limit to black Americans if you want but it's pretty appalling people roll without health insurance and teachers are getting laid off while we buildup other countries and spend trillions over there.
 
Go back to school and study human sciences and behavior. Sometimes learning how systematic our race could be could be a scary proposition.
