Why can't we just put all our nuclear waste on a rocket and shoot it out into space?

I suppose it might be bad if that rocket blew up on the launch pad, what with it being filled with all that waste. But couldn't we lift it off from antartica or some other sh|t hole like africa?
some other sh|t hole like africa?
flamebait. can't you come up with a topic without flamebaiting? :|

Can't you read a joke without getting offended by it?
apparently, i'm not the only one. and some of your jokes aren't jokes. : /

Then fvck off and go post another thread about the pope or something. You and I both know you only came in here because you wanted to find something in my post to be pissy about.

I think the cost is probably the main issue...I mean I'm sure they could minimize the risk by flying it over unpopulated areas like I said.

And for god sakes, I didn't think "Africa is a sh|thole" going to stir up such a hornets nest? I don't see anybody volunteering to do a student exchange with the congo around here.

No, but each new powerplant will produce more and more spent fuel rods. We have enough of them as is, do we need to add more?
I say we build schools out of them. Not only does that solve the disposal problem but it makes inroads on the education problem. Two birds with one stone.

Won't anybody think of the children?

😉

instead of venus, we just just point it at the sun and incinerate the stuff. it may be cost prohibitive at this point, but i do wonder of the implications.

dumping our garbage on earth is like peeing in a toilet, dumping it in space is like peeing in the ocean 🙂

how about using the nuclear energy to power a rail gun that shoots radioactive waste into the sun?

You really don't? Well it truly is one.

Now you're thinking. That actually seems like a pretty good idea.

There's some pretty cool animals in Africa. I wouldn't want to do anything that might harm them. Lions are badass.

Is there any reason you couldn't use a railgun...I'd imagine designing one large and powerful enough that could still be moved and aimed would be difficult...but that seems doable.

you could use my doodle then 😉

You know how many ships you would have to send? We produce 2000 tons of waste a year. How many ships is that?

There are still many issues with them or the military would hade been all over these already.

I don't think cost is the factor.
I saw a show on all the work they are doing to store radioactive waste. The costs far exceed the entire budget for nasa for the next 20 years.

Do you really want to mess with fusion process of the SUN. No fusion = no SUN=NO Life on Earth.

Radiation is a natural occurrence.

The problem is that humans and living things can not handle excessive amounts of radiaiton for prolonged periods of time.

Lets go back to the drawing board:

why not just shield the radiation?
