Why can't we change?

I heard that 96% of America's feel Citizens United is a bad decision. Doing some quick web research implies that at least 80% feel its bad. No matter how you look at it most people feel its bad for our country. I realize that many Politicians now require huge amounts of money to be elected. Why is it so damn hard to get the States together to amend the constitution?

I do not believe that 80% of American's even know WTF Citizens United is. That's probably the answer to the question too.

Why would they be against it? Every American has the same right to donate a billion dollars to a Superpac of their choice same as the Koch brothers do. Fair.

I believe the 96% figure was about money in Politics and the 80% was about Citizens United. I still find it hard to believe that its so damn hard to get addressed.

What does that even mean?

But, yeah: Why would anyone not see eye to eye with a bunch of far right -wing nut jobs? Have you actually seen their agenda? It's not just about campaign finance reform. It's some serious off-the-deep-end shit.

A good reason why the Republican party is so disorganized and so badly splintered is groups like this. They have all these little factions with their own specific conservative agendas that don't give a damn about any of the other little factions and their agendas.

They do and that doesn't make it right, however the agenda of the modern day GOP is regression and fear...

And that's not the way the world works now.

The modern day liberal sure seems to spend a lot of time painting the right look like a boogey man.

Why is that? Why do you turn the right into monsters?

Oh that's right, because your spreading you own agenda of fear. Your just too mind f-ed to know it.

So Michael how do you feel about money in Politics?
I believe this is a non partisan issue. Most of us know big money corrupts and distorts things so why not change the rules?

Okay. Exactly what "fears" have been "spread"? Unless you have some base points and argument, don't bother...

What is mind fucked anyways? Are mind orgasms involved? The one thing the left has which the right has never had is a sense of humor. Conservatives attempting to be funny is cringe worthy, admit it! Right wingers are wound up so tight that is a miracle that their sphincters unclinch enough to take a dump.

Only some of them are monsters (the Cheneys, the Scaifes, the Bushes...). The rest are mostly mindless peons worried and wound up about stupid things like whether they can have 15 round magazines or that they'll be forced by law to speak Spanish in another ten years. Nobody fears those idiots, only their votes and the ease by which they're manipulated.

Money funds negative campaigning which is designed to turn off most people and cause them not to vote. Because the right is fired and fueled by fanatical voters, they win. Americans have been trained by moneyed interests to be apathetic..

Libruuuls have been spreading fears that Obama is a sekrit Mooselman, that DeathPanels from the ACA were going to hunt down your grandma, and that Obama would rather talk with Cuban terrorists than real 'Murricans, all while handing evil Iranians nuclear weapons.

Oh, wait...

96% might think that money's corrupting influence in politics is a bad thing, but that just means that they're not part of the 4% that has enough money to actually matter to a politician.

Since this kind of feedback loop has become firmly entrenched, a politician who votes against this form of bribery would effectively be voting to take a substantial pay cut.

And there are quite a few on the right who paint the left to look like domestic terrorists who have dedicated their lives to the annihilation of the United States.

The left has two positions.
1) Republicans win because Americans are stupid and apathetic.
2) Democrats' programs are needed because Americans are stupid and apathetic.

And yet, only the people looking for government to take from others and give to them, the people unable to provide for their own education/child care/health care/birth control, ever seem to rise above the stupidity and apathy, in Democrats' eyes. Curious, that.

What? I heard that 78% of people feel Citizens United was a good decision and my research shows this to be true.

The democrats and left had congress for over 40 years after world war2, they fumbled the ball when they abandoned the middle class and unions which was the backbone of this country so they can eat at the corporate pig trough like the republicans,

Today most of them are great pretenders telling their constituents what they want to hear while doing what their corporate masters want once they get in, they sell you hope and change but instead do the bidding of big business and wall street.

The very next post shows that Democrats have voted against this form of bribery. Does this alter your view of politicians even a little bit?

Oh you mean right about the time that CU was passed forcing them to prostitute themselves for enough donations to keep up with the GOP?

Because people do not even possess a basic fundamental understanding of our politcal system. We do not have a two party system. We have a one party system.

tumblr_mr87trsvuU1r7dd67o1_500.png

Because we cannot comprehend that basic fact, we cannot even have a rational discussion about any of the things inside both circles. That is what our bastardized two party system is designed to do. If you want to remove an issue from public discourse, just place it inside the two circles.
