Why can't the western media get over their racism for Indian people?

I was reading this article-
http://tech.firstpost.com/news-anal...as-mars-mission-is-blatant-racism-215704.html

I agree with the author. So just because there are poor people in a country, the country should simply abandon all effort to progress in science and technology?

If so, why does the US government waste money in maintaining military bases around the world when things like this are happening? According to the above logic, they should focus on the poor and the underpaid of America instead of spending millions of dollars on killing unarmed brown people?

I find it amusing that Westerners, despite all their talk of tolerance and brotherhood, can't see another country progressing.

Could be the gang rapes, Could be caste system and poverty.

Racism is still alive, but its nothing like 50 years ago, and not a serious issue for most people.

Maybe the same reason Indian people generalize all Westerners and accuse them of racism?

Regardless, P&N is
<--
that way.

We build and sell staircases. When we see someone climbing our stairs we are happy. When we see them near the top of the stairs we cheer. When they reach the top and see them turn around to view their accomplishment we kick them back down the stairs and burn the staircase because... we sell staircases. If they built their own staircase we kick them even harder because we don't need another staircase builder competing with us.

There's plenty of people in the West that complain about Western governments "wasting money" on these sorts of things as well so I wouldn't necessarily put it down to racism.

So how do you suggest we stop gang rapes?

Caste system is a big problem. However bigotry and discrimination happen everywhere. Why doesn't the USA stop all its science and research and focus on the issue of black American people unfairly targeted by white cops?

Poverty will be fixed by economic growth. Giving free stuff to poor people never does any good.

Please point to where people said abandon all effort to progress in science and technology. I'll wait. Oh whats that - you can't find any credible news source that said that? It's almost like there is some sort of middle ground between devoting 100% of science and technology progress on the poor and spending $75 million on a mission to Mars or something like $1.1bn on its space program in general

The author has an awful lot of anger. So Britain doesn't want to give aid to a country that has enough 'spare' money to spend that much on space? So what? I wouldn't want that either as it either shows they don't need it or they aren't responsible with it. I'm not making a case for either one but regardless I can understand why they wouldn't want their money to go somewhere else if its not needed. Reading some of the various articles I think someone is a little too touchy and sensitive about criticisms of their country. Can you imagine what would happen if the US got all emo every time someone said something bad about us?

This is a great event for India but that doesn't mean the entire world has to be thrilled beyond any criticism. Do you think the US was happy for the USSR when Sputnik got launched? How about the Western Bloc when the Americans landed on the moon.

I find it amusing that Westerners, despite all their talk of tolerance and brotherhood, can't see another country progressing.

Congrats on having the top 4 worst cities for air pollution!

I don't think racism is correct, probably more towards despise because of their uppity attitude for no good reasons emanating from just about every one of them.

Simple. Execute the perpetrators.

Nobody will say that all effort to progress in science and technology should be abandoned. There is some amount of political correctness to maintained. However when a publication titles its articles like this-"India Mars Mission to Launch Amidst Overwhelming Poverty.", it isn't hard to guess what they're hinting at.

The author has an awful lot of anger. So Britain doesn't want to give aid to a country that has enough 'spare' money to spend that much on space?
First of all, we never asked Britain for their help. Even if we did, they aren't doing us a favor. They should return everything that they looted from us for 200 years, with interest.

This is a great event for India but that doesn't mean the entire world has to be thrilled beyond any criticism.
Nobody is asking for the entire world to be 'thrilled'. All I am saying is that please stop lecturing us on poverty. We're working on it. It is the imperialistic England who is responsible for it in the first place.

It's not just the gang rapes, it's the acid throwing (happens in other parts of the world too), the lack of accountability for the people that commit these crimes, and most importantly the attitude shown by the perpetrators and those around them. I remember reading about a case where several men kidnapped and gang raped a woman, and when the mother of one of the guilty party was asked about it, she blamed the woman for how she was dressed, saying you can't blame her son for losing control...

It's shit like that.

Well this is a new one for me. Are Indian people in America known for being arrogant and snobbish?

A simple question for you. How will abandoning space research fix these problems?

I don't think it's something that you can fix by just throwing money at it. It's a problem that any civilization which has existed for a long, long time faces. Changes in culture take a LONG time to happen, and I don't know what the solution is to speed it along regarding the treatment of women.

Exactly. Since these problems can't be solved by throwing money at them, it is better to invest that money elsewhere, somewhere that will actually benefit the nation.

I love this example the article provides: "Is India's Mars mission the latest escalation in Asia's space race?" How the fuck is that racist?

It's just as abhorrent the UK engages in space research despite their widespread dental issues.

What does a mission to Mars benefit a nation filled with poverty and violence? Couldn't some of that money be better spent on, I don't know, education a culture that gang raping a women is frowned upon, even if she is in the lowest caste?

Or, how about they spent half that space program on low cost public housing for the massive amount of squatters? Or building an education system that can support betterment of these people?

Nope. Mars or bust! And, if anyone criticizes us, we scream racism at the top of our lungs!
