Why can't the USPS have package tracking worth anything?

Usually they're pretty good about it, but I've had times where it took 2-3 days after the actual delivery until it said it was delivered.

I never really understood how it helps for a person to know where a package is at all times anyway. Not like it puts it in their hands then and there, and it's not like keeping track of its every move makes it go faster or ensures that it won't get sent to the wrong place.

Negligence is the only reason they don't have tracking yet, and incompetence is the reason they can't update their site more timely. I'm not hollering to make it privately operated, but they seem to do their best to make the argument for privatization themselves.

Wow, instead of trying to be trendy and bash a government service you could actually READ thier website and see that they don't even offer a tracking service. Negligence and incompetence have nothing to do with it, they just don't offer enroute package tracking except for express mail. That's why it's called Delivery Confirmation, they only confirm that the package is delivered or that it will not be delivered. Looks like you need to be more accountable with your facts :p
