Why can't the F-22 oxygen issue be temp. fixed with a better autopilot?

Wouldn't it be possible to install a button on the F-22 that takes it under 10,000 feet that the pilot could hit while also ripping his mask off? When the system fails, is there any air coming into the cockpit at all? Or would he just be breathing his own fumes?

Because slapping duct tape on the actual issue is not exactly what the AF wants in their most expensive plane ever.

Just give each pilot an oxygen tank. In fact they should already be dressed in scuba gear. You know what's more awesome than an airforce pilot? An airforce pilot that can immediately turn into an underwater fighter at the push of a button. Make sure their guns are waterproof.
