That is true. I run RH71 as my router, which I also develop on. However, to do anything useful, like play games, I need windows or a mac.

Because then PCs would be ergonomically shaped proprietary pieces of garbage that wouldnt be half as fast as they are today or work half as well.

Some windows apps can be installed with drag and drop. No registry entries made or none that won't be created when absent.

OTOH, some mac apps install libraries and preferences outside the 'main' directory.

So, it depends.

if windows had modular installs .. then people would go into CompUSA and steal programs via their IPOD .. wait .. that's what happened to the macs ..

Yeah, Windows' method of installing programs has certainly curbed piracy, especially when compared to the Macintosh platform, where piracy is running rampant

well it happened in the news once .. MS is just more popular and for some, piracy is the only way to go.
