Why can't PCs be more like macs?

Whatever happened to an installation be just copy the thing to a single folder, not put this in this folder, this in the registry (which is a bad idea anyways), etc?

You could always buy a Mac.

since when has Windows allowed you to perform an install via drag and drop folder?

ps, if you're really that annoyed, you could code up the procedure, or buy a mac? 😉

Yea, I wish that PCs were 50% more expensive with only 1/3 of the current amount of perepherials and software available to them....

you couldn't drag and drop, but the old DOS stuff rarely needed anything more than being copied to a directory. sometimes adjust the autoexec.bat or config.sys but it was easy to back up the program.

Copy protection happened. Too many people were just copying the folder to a new computer and no installation disks were needed. That was one of the major pushes. Other things like visual programming languages also occured. Two programs written on the same language likely use the same files. Thus rather than have dozens of the same file installed, it was placed on a single location. More efficient yes, but it means it kills the folder-folder copying.

If you want a Mac get a Mac if you want a PC then you should get a PC. If you can't decide between one or the other, get Linux 😀 😉
