Why can't other TV stations show Olympic highlights?

Does NBC solely own everything?
Im watching Sports Net(Canada's sports only channel and they are only showing picture shots of highlights
It's pretty sad to watch broadcasters actually acting out the highlight by themselves.

It has to do with the amount of money NBC had to pay for the Olympics. Since they paid so much they are keeping exclusive rights to the video highlights. They want people to watch NBC for coverage not any other news network.

I have to say that I hate the way NBC has been covering the games. You watch one, perhaps two ski jumpers, ten minutes of commecials, come back to a biography story and then more commercials. After all that they come back on and say how so-and-so made a great jump and show the landing only.

I know they paid alot for the rights, but show the damn games and cut back on the commercials a bit.

Oh, and now they are trying to sell a "highlights" video. My guess is it is all the things that we missed because of the commercials.

:frown:

In US it's NBC. In Canada it's CBC.

Fortunately, CBC coverage is better than NBC. Lots more live stuff it seems from what I've been told, instead of this 2 hour delay thing etc. for West Coasters.
