Why can't I play True Lies on my DVD-ROM drive?

I can play it on my home theater fine(btw, that was THE best action movie i have ever seen), but i cant get it to work on my Toshiba MD1602 for some reason, a little help?

Could be the drive or the software.... I've had problems (Juassic Park, Aliens 4) with some DVD's stopping half way though.. most likely a software issue because I tried swapping the DVD drives. But not True Lies. Great movie btw. 🙂

yeah, i don't have much insight into your problem, but i CAN say that true lies is my FAVORITE action movie of all time

I have a Toshiba SD-M1212, and True Lies works on it just fine.
yes, it's a great movie 🙂

the only time my DVD drive doesnt read a disc is when the disc is a PAL, not NTSC one. But i guess that's not the problem here.

If every other movies work on your Toshiba, and True Lies works on your DVD player, then I donno what ca be the problem.

Just to make sure, you should try clean your DVD-ROM laser len, clean your DVD disc, and make your it;s NTSC, and the correct region setting. Just wanna get the basic out of the way first 🙂

In my experience, it's more often a fault of the player software than the drive. I also have the Tosh SD-M1212, and with my Radeon card it had problems playing back a bunch of movies (Gladiator, X-Men, Sixth Sense, and more). I downloaded the updated DVD player from ATI and my problems went away.

(The new ATI player software still chokes on the seamless branching extra scenes in X-Men.)

Try the following (this helps with some specific DVD's) if you are using Win98SE:

Run MSCONFIG. On the GENERAL (opening) page, click the ADVANCED button (bottom right corner of page), then put a check in the box marked "Disable UDF file system." Close config and restart.

Good luck.
