Win98se doesn't start at 1.1ghz. 1.05ghz is the max my 900 t-bird can do.
Heat issue? or that's all my cpu can do?

Its either heat, voltage, or CPU. If you gave us a little more info perhaps we can be more specific.

Power supply can also be a factor. Sometime the other devices don't have enough power causing it to post but can't get into Windows.

Hey, my car can't be driven past 110 mph! It can be driven up to 105 mph! Heat issue? Exhaust not big enough? Engine not powerful enough? Tire not high performance enough??? Or is it all my car can do? Please help!!!

Make any sense?? Probably not.

To get help, please provide more detailed information.

Remember, garbage in, garbage out.

Whenever I set the cpu speed beyond 1050mhz, can't even see "starting windows.."
So far I set the voltage to 1.80v, no more, because I only have the retail HSF. Still the cpu temp only goes up to 35C at idle. After running CS for a few ours it goes up to 45C. I really don't think the temperature is the issue here. Right now I'm running at 1045mhz (110X9.5). Anthing more than that..:-(

If your running on the retail heastink then its definately heat. Your pretty lucky to even hit beyond 1Ghz with the retail(even thoough it's the copper core). Get a better heatsink and go for more.

EDIT: Make sure you get some thermal compound with that as well!

Heat? May be. What about memory? What kind of memory do you have in your system? PC100? PC133? Cas2 PC133?

Don't think RAM is an issue. Since the system bus speed is at 100-115mhz(115 is really tops for a Tbird AMD system, mind you its double data rated). Any RAM these days at 100mhz bus can achieve that speed, heck PC-100s can reach 133 on CAS 3 no prob. If its a P3 system, and going to 150mhz was the only option to reach beyond 1Ghz, then HIGH End Brand name Ram like Mushkin or Infineon is needed. This isn't the case.

I have the Abit KT-7-raid and 2 sticks of 128mb Mushkin High performance.
I don't think it's the heat issue since the system can't start the windows even when I turn the power on for the first time of a given day.
I'm leaning toward to the conclusion that it's the cpu limitation.
By the way, it's week 30 w/ green core.
