Why can't I ghost this hard drive?

I've been trying to use Norton Ghost 2003 to move my data to a new hard drive. Every time it copies the whole disk and everything seems fine but when I put the new drive in my laptop it just won't boot. All I get is a blinking cursor. The OS is Windows XP Pro and the hard disk has 2 NTFS partitions. I know the data is getting copied but it just won't boot. What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to fix it?

I think I remember something about the way Ghost works with NTFS, that it doesn't copy the boot sector or something like that - in the options, I think you need to change it to Ghost All or something like that - not the default one. It has to copy EVERYTHING on the disk. That's what I remember reading anyway.

I found the option you're talking about but it still isn't working. I've given up. I'm just going to have to install a fresh copy of Windows on the new HD. Thanks for trying.

I have seen this posted here before. Try a search for ?Ghost? and see what it comes up with. If I remember right, after you install from Ghost, XP will not boot. You have to boot from the XP install disk and choose the repair counsel. It will repair the boot sector so it will boot again. That is what I remember but have not tried it. Do the search, I know it was here at this forum.
