I can't focus on anything....

I get so distracted at work, my personal life!!!!

So at work it's pretty slow right now, so I decided to develop a web site for my own "thing". Well anyway, I start working on it, don't get very far, I start browsing the web, sending e-mails, IM's. I get back to the code that I was working on, and juts stare, don't even know where I was before.

I do have OCD, it has been diagnosed. But I just can't get anywhere...

Lay off the reefer for awhile.....:p

;);)

Not being able to focus sucks. I was on blood thinners last year, and they made me absolutely ditzy. I had no immediate memory, no short term memory. Someone could tell me something, I'd take 5 steps, and have to go back and ask them again. I had to write down everything, and then I'd run off without the notepad that I wrote everything down on. It was very hard to focus. My kids say it's just old age, but I swear it was the blood thinners! :Q

One thing that I finally got in the groove with was making a to do list, with priority, times/dates (and placiing it where I could see/find it ;)) and I would check things off as I got them done. It helped me focus enough to keep my job. :D

Sounds to me like you're suffering from a chemical imbalance, and need to engage the assistance of some very helpful and informative pharmeceutical companies. There are a lot of medications available which can help you lead a productive and normal life, so please contact your doctor so that he or she can write you the appropriate prescription.

How old are you? Go on meds if you need; my attention over the years has gotten way better. I'm 25 now and can finally pay attention for long periods of time - i always could for things I liked - but now I can at work better as well.

You know, as rude as it is, this quote has lots of sense in it. 'Killing kittens' is believed to have several negative effects on one's health. I won't go into this any further, no offense, man, this has no relation to you, I just answered LOLyourFace.

Sounds more like ADD !

If you believe in it... its a myth. We all have this "issue", we just grow out of it.. some much faster than others...

I had ADD tendencies too, which is odd considering I work as a software engineer and sometimes sit here for 10+ hours coding.

I haven't had my "zone" concentration for a long while; I think it has to do w/ my lack of interest in some of the work I've been doing.

I also have a tendency to get bored w/ things before they're finished. I have so many interests that it's hard to keep up w/ them...

Eh well... let me know if you find a cure.

there are many people who use 10% of their brains, when I take my meds, I am one of them.

I can't help but notice the original poster hasn't been back here. He must have lost his focus.

Supposively I have ADHD but I think it is just a bullcrap diagnosis that pharmaceutical companies can make money off. I refued any drugs from my doctor and I will get through this with out any damm drugs. It seems like today when anything goes wrong everyone jumps to drugs to fix everything, what did people do back in the day when there was no drugs and people couldnt concentrate?

Dexadrin seemed to work wonders for fellow college students writing good last minute all nighter papers.
