Why cant i acess any of my settings in the bios?

I have a Gigabyte k8npro-sli. One day i set a password on the bios. I did then when i enter the password, i get in the bios and when i click a catagory and get to the page all the settings are unshaded or not bold. Most of them are not user changeable. I dont know what to do. I need to change how i put my computer in stanby since when i put it in stanby the fans stay on

Have you tried resetting the CMOS to clear your bios? Make sure you read your manual on how to do so.

is resetting to defaults grayed out as well?

yea everything is grayed out
