I've been trying for some time to find an audio editing program that will let me play music on a midi keyboard plugged into my line-in, and record it. I planned to play several different instrument sounds on that keyboard and dub them all together for a finished product. I have tried Acoustica, AcidWAV, and Quartet today alone. Every single program will only record my microphone port, there's no option to change it that I can find. I tried plugging my keyboard into the microphone port, but when I play (no matter what level I have the mic port set to in my audio properties), the sound is so blasting that even a piano sounds like an ear-piercing electric guitar. For that reason, I have to use my line-in, but I can't find a program that will record my line in (Acoustica is supposed to, it does for my friend even though his options are set identical to mine, wtf). Not to mention, I can't even figure out how to make multiple tracks (i.e. different instruments), and then dub them on top of each other (a dream come true would be to listen to the playback of one instrument whilst recording the next instrument on top of it).

I have posted on AT several times, Harmony Central Forums, GVOX/Passport Forums, and even the "Music Software Help and Discussion Board.", and gotten nothing. I sent an email to the makers of Acoustica (Aconas), and they replied with a cryptic email that made no sense.

UGH!!!! I can't be the only person in the world who does this. My good friend can do it in his house with a program I tried, why can't I? Why can no one help me? Why are all of these programs so hard to use!!!:|:|:|:|:|:|:|:|

Yikes, any help is appreciated at this point.

i hope i understand the question right.
you are trying to record audio into your computer from a keyboard
the fact thats its midi isn't really important. right?
so if that is right, you can use to record from your line in withmusicmatch
my dads uses it to make mp3s from audiocassettes. but you should be able to record to a .wav file

Cool Edit
the Pro version will allow you to overlay multiple tracks, i believe
at the very least it will record from line-in

Try ProTools. You can get a Free demo here Look at the Nav menu at the bottom of the screen and click on "get Pro Tools for FREE."

Umm...did you read my post?;) lol sorry, but I did say that I posted this on many, many forums. Problem is, there's like all of 20 members at these types of boards. It's impossible to get info there.

You might also consider one of the Cakewalk products. I've had some success using it to record from my guitar.
