they are shutting down bnet?

no, only the fake bnet. and frankly they can do what they want, its their product. if you don't like it, don't buy it, don't play it.

they're trying to shut down bnetd, not bnet. And its not their product, so they can't do as they wish.

Well bnetd was used by some people at lan parties, cause bnet doesn't allow multiple ppl with the same ip. It had orignally a good intention but was manipulated by warez folk so that everyone could play warez'd copies of the beta release. They have the right to do it though, no doubt

hahahahahahahaa. thats rilly funnie 🙂

I have been a big fan of Blizzard for a long time. I've been waiting for Warcraft 3 ever since War2 was done with, and that was like 6? 8?years ago. And I've been playing Starcraft ever since it came out. I still play it on bnet today, about 3-4 games every day.
There are some games that are just so great, you have to buy them and have a retail copy for yourself. Perks include: having the manual, the additional remastered DVD and demos, being able to play on bnet, the art of warcraft book, the developer's signatures, and the retail box and CD.

If you don't like the game enough to buy it, that's your thing. I feel the need to support the developers, show my appreciation for this hella good game, and get those sweet ass extras, which is why I preordered it.
Considering how much time I got out of Starcraft (a few thousand bnet games) for $40 when it came out, I can definitely justify $50 for Warcraft3, which is why I preordered it, and why it's on overnight shipping and getting here on July 3rd (today!!!).

I love the game, have been playing it online for awhile now, even thou I do love the game my love doesnt stretch out as far as 90 dollars would. so untill it goes down in price.. says 30-40 bucks I will buy it. Think about it the collectors edition is !!!!!!$130 !!!!!!! thats alot for a dvd movie about a game, a game, a book and a few posters.

$60 is a lot for a game. It better come with a jewel case and not a stupid little sleeve like the beta did.

Well i for one am actually using a legit copy of windows.

But one thing that has puzzled me for those are using a pirated copy of xp, how did they use the key gens? Don't you need windows for that to work?

It's a vicious cycle, people warez games to protest high prices, and then developers/publishers raise prices to compensate for piracy....or at least that's the story they give.

Five little letters (well, 20 more) FCKGW
And yes, I own a two legal copies of Windows XP. Pro and home, but I run Windows 2k.

SURE..... your just covering up so you dont get flammed, i really doubt that your going over there right after posting why would someone buy it.

=( They didn't have it. I guess I'll just wait until tomorrow with the $10 coupon. Dude, I said I support buying the game.

Well, I for one am gonna be bad an warez it. Kinda. I'm broke as h3ll right now but I really, really want that collector's edition with the signed prints and such, so my mom is gonna buy it for me on Thursday, BUT, it's for a Christmas gift, so I'm gonna be without it for a while. Blizzard's still getting their money now and for the premium edition, but I can't wait until Christmas to play (if it weren't for the collector's edition being limited run I'd just wait until September when I start working again and just buy it then, but that's not the case). This way it's still be a nice gift (I still get all the collector's edition goodies then), Blizzard gets supported, and I can play now to keep my sanity.

I wouldn't be in this mess at all if I hadn't spent the money I'd been saving for WC3 on Neverwinter Nights, but it's a good game too so I guess I can't complain.

What are you, retarded? Or do you just live in Canada?

$90 and $130? Try $60 and $75. And that's not the cheapest place either, I got mine at gogamer for $47
My apologies if you do live in canda. Apologies because then you're not retarded, but also because... You live in Canada. 😀

The collectors edition is totally sweet. Comes with a huge art book, the DVD, the soundtrack, the prints (which are just the 4 box covers), a huge box, and of course the game. Definitely worth the extra couple dollars...

Heh, FCKGW...the first 5 letters of something most of us here have known about if not used already. I myself own legitimate copies of most every piece of Microsoft software, but I didn't pay a cent...How you ask? Read my sig, it's awesome going to college in MS's hometown!

MS gave me 2 free keys for WinXP Pro alone, not to mention keys for every other mainstream product they've come out with. God bless them, now I don't have to say I'm a nasty f|_|cking pirate.

Not related to pirating... more of a general comment...

I loved starcraft. Played warcraft 3 beta, and well, not so good. It looks kinda like starcraft, cept the coloring on the character is a bit hard on the eyes. It feels kinda like starcraft, cept everything is so cluttered, the units are too big, and the mouse lags (seems to be because of slow code which lags even at lowest visual settings, probably from the asserts I'm guessing. btw, I have an tbird 1.0 with 256 ddr ram and tnt2, well within the specs I believe. besides, I remember reading some testing that indicated wc3 to be cpu intensive, which I suspect is true on a vid card that can't do t&l. all the polys... won't somone think of the poor children?) Although I'll admit, the game is pretty. Blizzard always hires awesome artists.

So, will I buy the game. Probably. Is it because the beta convinced me that it's good. No. Will I play it very much? I have my doubts. Can I wait awhile before buying the game? Yes. Blizzard has established a reputation for quality, and I'll trust that reputation against my lukewarm initial impressions.

reasons not to buy Warcraft 3:

Starfall = I WIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Gay people who use lame tactics.

First of all, Starfall is not lame. It costs hella lot of mana and you must center the priestess within all the enemy units, making her an easy target to get owned on. It's a max spell which means you need to get level 5 (i think they changed that to 6) for your hero first. And the cooldown time is enormous.

Gay people who use lame tactics? It's a strategy game. If they can beat you using lame tactics, maybe you should brush up on your tactics a little bit. This isn't even an argument to not buy War3, it's an argument to not play multiplayer games, as you'll see this in every online game you'll ever play.

i'm willing to bet that this thread won't last an hour. 🙂

or are the mods off for July 4th holiday early?

I dunno...warcraft 3 has 4.5 million pre-orders. it's a record, i'd say piracy isn't affecting it. And they still charge ridiculous prices
