But until someone throws in the towel, it's not over.

This really is the key point from my view. The dems were handed this election. However, they picked a far liberal from Mass. My god folks, look at the south. Every single southern state went for Bush. I think that the majority of people from the south simply couldn't identify with Bush.

Exactly. Same-sex marriage ban was on the ballot in quite a few states and that brought out the fundies in droves.

Bigots determining the futures of others' lives.

yeah, the gay marriage was banned in oregon? Is that a biggot state? It passed 58%-42%. I guess 58% of people in Oregon are bigots. More like they have morals. Obviously you are pissed you man got owned tonight.
Fvcking give it up with the childish and ignorant remarks.

Kerry did not get "owned" tonight. Yes, Bush is ahead in the popular vote and will take the electoral vote but it's still a very close race...hardly a mandate for Bush even given the huge fundamental Christian turnout.

And, yes, those 58% in Oregon are bigots. How in the hell is same-sex marriage going to affect you? It's considered a sin by your religion, right? Well, guess what? Your religion has NO SAY in our government's laws.

Christian Reconstructionism is beginning to take hold and it will be the downfall of this great nation. I feel it in my bones.

the downfall has already begun. sad day when the people of USA votes one of the worst president in the history of this country, back into office.

There are 100 + million evangelicals and born-agains in this country. That's why Bush win. (This is of course my second answer 😛).

Well I guess here in Southern California we are really isolated from the rest of America. Middle and Southern America just hasn't progressed socially to where we are now, and it doesn't look like they are going to anytime soon. This election proved just that, white America is still very conservative and they are not going to let what they perceive to be a liberal become president.

It's no mistake the East and West Coasts... where more progressive, cultured types congregate "I'm smarter than everyone else types"... went to Kerry.

The South and the MidWest went with the candidate they could identify with.

Hmmm I hope you don't live on the coasts or else that might be one SNOBBY post

Heh, I live in Floriduh... born and raised. So I can trash my own all I like. 😉

Fortunately, I don't worry too much about what everyone thinks of me here. I consider myself as free to post my opinions as the rest of you, and I know that some people will agree and some won't like what I have to say or, GASP! tell me I am making myself look bad. There is a lot of truth to what I said, even though there are plenty of individual exceptions. Generalizations have their place in social studies.

To all you liberals that pushed so hard for gay marriage and hatred against christianity: you action ensured a 2nd term of Bush.

Thank the MA supreme court and Newsom for their fight on gay marriage, that really meant something to us. Gay marriage is REALLY important to our society as a whole and we should shove our idealogy to everyone else.

I said it before and I'll say it now. Christians feel threatened by these actions taken by a small amount of people. People in other states are not ready for change in terms of gay crap, WHY was it put on the forefront in the first place? I'm no bush lover and I would have loved to see a Kerry win but jacka$$ liberals need to start thinking about why Bush won. You have no one else to blame but yourselves.

enjoy 4 more years of Bushism, courtesy of your neighborhood gay marriage advocate and christian bashers.

Shrub won, not a Nation, but by a single state (Ohio) by 140,000 votes. That's what Election '04 came down to. Shrub won by the greatest number of popular votes in history ever cast for an incumbent President's re-election, this is true; however Shrub also receive the greatest number of NEGATIVE (against him) popular votes that any other candidate has in history.

[Note: I am not, nor should anyone, taking Bush's certifiable victory numbers away from him...a good old fashioned get-out-the-vote seems to have happened and questionable activity has been minimized because of all the media attention. I, as many people do, believe that this was Shrub's FIRST offical win in an election. However, I continue to dub Shrub an illegitimate President, as this was his inception back in 2000.]

Shrub won because he appealed to the lowest common denominator of typical American heartland intelligence - single-focus and single-mindedness.

Shrub won because he ran a campaign based upon fear and lies and any sound-bites that sound-cool and cause an adreneline rush.

Shrub's victory proves that one can say anything in the world, true or not, and win.

Shrub's victory shows a divide between antiquated "old America" (older-aged voters were the majority) steadfast against the "new America" (the young under-30 vote) fighting for new rights and progressiveness.

Shrub's victory also shows us that he lost numbers of, and support of, educated, post-graduate degree certified individuals, from the level that they supported him in the 2000 Election.

It's odd that all you supporters & believers of Bush's lies and fear and divide-and-conquer tactics are found to have voted with the driving factor of "morals" (i.e., religious fundamentalism and discontent about the "gay marriage" issue).

Because each of you who voted for Shrub is about to get screwed up the #ss, one way or another, within the next 4 years...if not within a lifetime of Shrub's theocratic legacy.

To those of you who stood behind John Kerry and his call for all of America to be heard: it's been a gracious pleasure working with you all. Keep fighting the good fight...and keep those on the run who are trying to limit your freedoms and sell your patriotic souls!

I do hope you realize how arrogant and elitist that sounds. It is a good example of why the democratic party has been in a general slide for the past 30 years though. They try to portray themselves as the party of the common man the champion of the middle class and all the various minority groups. Unfortunately for them though they always seem to remind the rest of the nation that they are the "more progressive, cultured types" with I am assuming above 100 IQs based in your OP. Nothing like taking a hard working blue collar midwesterner with strong moral convictions and reminding him that you have a higher IQ, are progressive and culturally superior to him. Yea that will get you a lot of support. That is exactly what is hurting the Dems.

IM NOT RELIGIOUS. IM ATHIEST. And guess what? I'm still against same sex marriage. Why? Because marriage is between a man and woman. If two men or two women want a Union, thats fine w/ me. Marriage is not something for them, I'm sorry. It says right in the dictionary that marriage is a union between a man and woman.
So you're not religious bigot, you're just a regular bigot?

Oh, your use of the dictionary to defend those opposed to same sex marriage... classic! I'm convinced now.

Wow...there is nothing I could care less for than Nascar, except maybe ridiculous stereotypes of southern people

Hrmm, just checked computerjobs.com, and it seems Atlanta has the most listings of jobs available in the "IT Market" on that site. That can't be right...its in the south.
