Yeah, good show...Too bad they decided to try and compete with Smallville.

Sorry 24, I'm a Smallville fan.

24 Is the reason why I worship my TIVO... I can record Smallville or Frasier and still watch 24. Or I can record the re-run on FX.
The first hour of 24 was sort of boring, but Ep. 2 and 3 were smokin! I love the show! One person suggested TIVO'ing the whole 24 episodes and saving them, then watching them all together, skipping all the commercials... That way you don't forget any of the details!

<< OK, no has really explained what is so neat about the show yet. I have never seen it, so I have no clue what the concept is. >>

Basic plot.
First african american ever has a chance at becoming the president of the USA.
Show starts at 12:00am (midnight) the morning of the California Presidential Primary.
They discover that someone (a pair of semi-hot lesbian are involved it turns out ;)) is going to try to assisstance Senator Palmer.

Kiefer Sutherland is the agent assigned to stop it, but his boss tells him someone in this agency is bad, so he can't trust anybody.

The neat bit is that, starting at midnight, each show runs one hour of "real" time.

So Ep1 is 12:00am-1:00am, Ep2 is 1:00am-2:00am, and so on.

It's quite a good show...except...

*SORTA SPOILER, don't read if you haven't seen Ep2 and 3*.

The "depressing" bit I mentioned before is the treatment of the dark haired girl.
Some guy breaks her arm with a crowbar, then she gets some cocaine or heroin for "pain killer".
Then while she's stoned she gets stolen from, but no one helps her.
FInally she gets hit by a car, the driver speeds off, and the other people just leave her lying in the middle of the road.

I have no particular problem with Violence, my problem with this is that that sort of thing is probably exactly what would happen to her, except in real life you'd have to throw in a raping....(who knows...we've only had 3 hours, it could happen...hell at the end of Ep3 she's lying on the ground after being hit by a car...she can't fight back, someone could get some quick loving out of her....:|).
And it depresses me that the world has gotten so bad...

END OF *SORTA SPOILER, don't read if you haven't seen Ep2 and 3*.

The plot, so far........got 'em on tape, but haven't watched ep. 3 yet........

Anyway, guy is head of counterterrorism unit in US city, forget which one, and is tasked to protect a presidential candidate from a legit threat.......the candidate is the first Af-Am with a credible chance of being elected.

Guy gets told by a very trusted friend in another agency that there is a leak from within his dept. and to not trust anyone.

Guy has family, wife and daughter. Daughter sneaks out one evening to go party with one of her friends. Meet two guys at a furniture store......party a bit....go off. These two guys turn out to actually be kidnapping the main dude's daughter.

Wife is now missing daughter...hooks up with the father of the other daughter.....go looking but are just too late. They get to the store after the girls and guys leave.

Meanwhile, main dude gets call from same trusted friend.......friend is in a shootout and needs help. Main dude zips off to help. Gets a clue from his friend, some file saved on a magnetic stripe on a credit card, but friend is sacrificed.

Meanwhile, on an airplane, the who-appears-to-be-the-sniper hired to hit the candidate, in a too-real scenario, chums up a photographer who has an appointment to shoot a piece on the candidate. She then blows up the plane just after she parachutes to safety.

Basically that's it. Jack, I believe that's the main dude's name, is trying to safeguard the candidate, find his daughter and the mole, etc. etc.

It is a rush.

Lots of people have quit watching TV altogether. Working two jobs, 6&7 days a week. They don't have the leasure time. TV add revenues are down as a result. Where talk radio add revenues are up. People must be listening to radio to and from and while at work. Factor in internet time and you have to ask, Who has the time to watch TV??:)

One of the better shows on this year, I watch it, really not that hard when it's on 2-3 times a week and can be taped. I watched the encore last night on Fox since I was working Tues. night.
Course I think Fox is cutting back to once a week after this month's sweeps.

Only complaint is killed one chick and according to the preview about to kill the guy's daughter they already ran over, what a waste.

Brunette's not dead.

In the last seconds of Episode 3 she opened her eyes.

I was referring to the preview for ep4 where they are going back gun pointed down to finish her off. The one that I assume is dead is the girl that was with the chick (Mia Kirshner's character) that blew up the jet, since the bad guy shot her.

Bringing up an old thread here but... man, I'm gonna be pissed if this show gets cancelled early.

After tonight's episode, and shocking plot twist, I must say I haven't been this glued to the TV weekly since Party of Five (yes, two quite diff't types of show).

In response to Noriaki, the show is violent overall, against males and females. There's some exceptionally strong female characters (I don't mean physically) in the show, and it doesn't pull any punches when it comes to making the show believable.

hm well its a show where its best to be in from the start. its a shame they don't show a staggered version for those that came late, or have missed eps. should be a basic requirement for shows like that.

I watched the first episode and have been ULTRA hooked every since

Haven't missed an episode yet, BUT no new episodes till January 8th!

Grrr

24 is just so much better than the mindless crap that is out there....

All i really watch is TLC, History Channel, the simpsons, and 24. Keepin it simple. heheh

What i don't get is why 24 isn't doing better in the Nielsen rankings...I sure hope FOX doesn't pull it , cause it's something they should stick with (although I think I heard that they DID approve of at least the first 24 episodes) (thank goodness!)

You'll also be happy to know that as of right now, the ending is NOT even written! So who knows where it's going to go!

great show.

I started watching Smallville first, it's cool, but kinda formulaic. Someone mutates b/c of the kryptonite, someone's in danger, Clark saves them, sacrificing some advancement in his relationship with super f-ing hot Kristen Kreuk. good, but not as good as 24.

Damn, this show is getting better as the weeks go by....I think some people are put off of starting now b/c it's hard to catch up.

yeah, that's what i hate about this show. the premise of each episode is the same, and it gets boring.

i think i would rather have Clark date his friend Chloe! she's cute too.

24 and CSI are about the only shows that I've watch religously this year. It's nice to have a show with an evolving plot that in it's entirety could be one episode on another show. Honestly, shows like ER, Smallville, Law & Order, and others can only repeat the same scenario so many times before it gets old.

I wonder what will happen if it makes it past episode 24, though that's 2 seasons worth.

<< Why aren't people watching TWENTY-FOUR (24)?!? >>

Because I'm at work while it's on the air and I have no real interest in taping to watch it later.
