The cost you give are the hospital cost. Factor is another 3K for the OBGYN.

We had our first baby about 6 weeks ago. After about 18 hours of labor, the doctor decided to perform a cesarean section.

I don't know about you, but I sure don't have a extra 15K laying in the bank. That's what the bills all added up too.

The point is, if everything goes perfect, you are looking at about a 6K bill to have a child. Then comes all the doctor visits afterwards...

OK, then you just backed up my point. Its cheaper for me to NOT have insurance as I would pay out a LOT more then what you said in insurance costs then I would spend total on cost. It is basic math.

So I am not getting insurance any time soon. I will not pay for fat, lazy, drinking, smokers, etc... to have their lifestyle. I know plenty of people like myself that either don't have insurance or have added it up and see that it is not worth having. So rates will keep going up as health care cost go up and many more people like myself and others either see the truth and stop paying the rates or just never sign up to begin with.
At which point people will either change their lifestyles or have to pay for what they do, period.

Good luck with that...hope it works for you.

It wouldn't for me, but I think we are under different circumstances.

Oh I agree. Insurance for SOME people is great and pays off big for them. heck my parents fall into this group. But for myself and a lot of other people like myself it does not pay off and is not in our best intrest.

If insurance was more prorated, kinda like car insurance, then I might sign up for some. But most group buys EVERYBODY pays the same no matter their lifestyle or circumstances. That is my whole point it is not fair.
