Yeah, I need this category too.

Though on occasion the libs call for a good laugh.

The objective is to communicate. Did I fail?

Yeah. I really have no idea what you were trying to say.

Are you a lib? The question: Why are you here? My answer: boring assed TV. To elaborate for the very dense: TV sucks at this time of night so I come here for the entertainment. I missed a lot of p&n until I finished the Sopranos DVD set for last season. Shield is up next. 24 hrs is finished.

what does his being a liberal have to do with anything? do you realize u used the word ass as a verb???

what you meant to say is "Boring Ass TV", using ass as an adjective!

Cuse me! I skipped pedantic editorial 101. I don't remember the grammer and spellin test to join the forum. I must have slept through that too! My para, my words, I'll use them the way I want. That is the way the language grows.

That's all well and good... except you are speaking giberish. The language won't be affected if nobody but you can understand yourself. If you want to use words in such a ridiculous fashion, use them like that when you're talking to yourself. When you hop onto an internet forum with the expectaction that other people will be reading and trying to understand what you say, use language that makes some amount of sense. Otherwise it's just obnoxious garbage posting.

errr..i think you posted that in the wrong topic (not to correct you. its perfectly plausible you responded this way because you cant respond to the insanity posted toward you)

All of the above... Unfortunatly most sides of the debate have been hashed out by the time I decide to stop lurking. Hence, I just lurk more. I guess the real key is to have set unflexible opinions and not consider any post long enough to form a coherent thought.

In the context of this poll, I suppose I am now in mischief mode.

I'm a lurker who comes here because/to:

1. My work sucks and I'm bored.

2. Point out errors in peoples obviously error filled or flawed arguments.

3. Try and debate or have a discussion with the more rational people here.

As long as I keep my rhetoric detector on max in here and ignore the 'agenda people', I can usually avoid most of the brain damaging BS.

Is it possible to learn something here? Sure. If you're able to discern between who is using fact and who is spewing off rhetoric to advance his/her agenda.

These are libs with pre-conditioned, reflex responses. They wouldn't understand most of what I have to say if I typed directly from Eng101 - which I will never do. Did that for 20+ years and did it correctly, but was getting paid to do so. This is informal and for fun. I will do it the way I prefer! Elitist love correct grammar. It proves to the world that they have a GREAT education and they need that because that is pretty much all they got out of the years in school. It also gives them a standard to judge others by. A very false standard, but they believe in it. They can understand no other standard and it comforts them. I seldom tolerate people who have to complete a sentence in order to express their meaning and seldom those who need a completely punctuated sentence in order to understand a thought. Communicating with such is way too slow!

Partly correct. I crossed topics to see if the good liberal captain could follow. He posted Westmoreland hate mail in another thread, and this was more polite than telling him what I think of him. Perhaps he fought with Kerry - the domestic Kerry!

i would like to point out that a number of right-wing folk have often deferred to gramatical errors/my lack of desire to type "correctly" in the middle of discussion.
i understand that elitist can refer to either side. but in conjuction with the opening statements, it suggests that libs = elitist = worried about grammar.
i think everyone does it when they get bogged down with arguments.
personally, i love grammar but i couldnt care less about the way people use it. i dont view it as a way to judge others but as a way to tangibly manipulate our view. while this may seem devious in a politics forum, i mean it in the same way that a child playing in a sandbox is manipulating the grains.
to a degree, we need the standard. for the most part here, it doesnt matter. there are a few posters who i regularly dont understand the message they are attempting to communicate and i tend to just pass by.
honestly, this is too much work for the forum/thread. kogase may have a grammar fetish or he could just be railing on you for the fun of it...either way, i dont really agree with what he is saying but i dont agree with the characterization of those of us with a bit of a language kink.

I'm a highschool dropout.

I simply didn't understand the post you made. I don't sit on the forum pointing out each and every little mistake in spelling, grammar and word usage. But I do stop to nitpick over posts that make such egregious errors that I can't even understand them. That's all.

What about this option: I'm here to see what other intelligent people in America are thinking. This may not be representative of the whole American public; but there are a lot of intelligent people here. Much less than I can say for OT. Any discussion of current events or political events turns into a call for genocide. They are sheep. This is where people with real brains and concern reside.

Yeah, and 99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.
