I got to thinking this afternoon... that's usually a bad thing. Fire alarms tend to start going off from the smoke coming out of my ears. Anyway, I started wondering what makes one forum more or less popular than another. I've spent quite a bit of time here in the last several months. My wife is part of another forum, and spends a lot of time posting over there. I have tried to make myself a part of that community, but I just can't seem to pull myself away from here long enough to do it. To me, it doesn't seem that it has anything to do with what the main site is dedicated to. Anandtech is a computers/technology site. The one my wife hangs out on is a joke site, but a large number of the people over there work in computer related fields. I gues my question is what draws you to this forum over some other?

I used to hang out at sharkyforums OT forums. Same atmosphere. Then the OT there closed, and I started trading here on the FS/Ft forums. Then i found Off Topic, and thousands of posts later, here I am.
